Anwar Sadat was once the President of Egypt.

He waged two separate, unprovoked and violent wars against Israel in the 1960s and early 1970s.

In the late 1970's, he did a 180 degree turn and apologized to everyone for Egypt's conduct against Israel.

He even went to visit President Carter and sign official documentation showing Egypt as a country seeking peaceful relationships with Israel.

....And Islamic fanatics (Muslim Brotherhood sponsored and financed) shot Sadat to death as a response to his behavior.

What is my point?

If Sadat can go from violent attacker to peaceful negotiator, then people can and will change for the better.
