Is this all blown out of proportion?

I think most childhood vaccinations are important. They have significantly reduced and even eradicated some horrible diseases in certain regions, such as polio.

With that said, I don't go into it blindly either. After researching some, I decided to spread out my children's vaccinations. At their two month visit I think they wanted to give 4 shots that contained a total of 12 virus's! That didn't sit well with me so I only had them get one shot each visit and just went more frequently until they caught up. It worked out well.

I don't do flu shots and such though nor do I have my family get those. Unless you are at a huge risk of flu complications, I think they are pointless and potentially harmful.

I did get the 3 rounds of hepatitis vaccines as an adult but only because it was required for my job (I supervise a specific criminal population).

11th, you've been lucky or sheltered by not coming into contact with anyone who might have polio, etc. Sadly, these are on the rise in the U.S as those from other countries who are infected bring them here and encounter those who haven't had the vaccines. I have been vaccinated as a child (but have had chickenpox, as there was no vaccine for it when I was a kid).

I agree with Virgo, and did similar with my kids. I think vaccinations are important, especially for the worst of the viruses out there, like polio. I waited until my kids were 6 months before they got vaccinated, because their immune system isn't fully developed when they are younger. I also had their dr. stagger the vaccines, because I don't think the vaccines are as effective if too many are given at once, plus, why overload a small child's immune system.

Until flu vaccines become more effective, and they can stop the flu viruses from mutating into a new strain, I won't bother with the flu vaccine. Make them as effective as polio, measles, etc. vaccines, and then they might be onto something.
