What the hell is up with these people? Do these types of things just attract obnoxious, pushy people?

Avon, Mary Kay, Herbalife, whatever the name of that Acai juice pos company was, etc.

I can't fault someone for wanting to make some cash on the side or do their "own business."

However, I do fault them for turning into absolutely annoying human beings. They go from semi decent people, to ignorant, brainless, pushy jerks that just will not stop hassling you to buy their shit.

I had one friend who got in on a few of them, all dietary, and all fucking stupid. He was trying to con me in on the first one with the juice shit. I looked into it and decided it was a scam and even if I could manage to make it work, nobody that I know was going to spend 40 bucks on a wine bottle full of magic juice. I politely declined. He asked why. I told him I thought the company was a scam and the whole thing was just a farce. He proceeded to get butthurt and acted as if I directly insulted him.

I eventually cut ties with him because he just would not take no for an answer and was hassling everyone he knew to get in on it. It gets old when every form of communication turned into a sales pitch.

Recently, which is why I'm writing this, is a friend who got into those fiber lashes. She started flooding my news feed with that shit. The anti vaccination propaganda was already too much, but now? I just had to block the chick from my feed because hell no. I'm tired of this.

She mass invites everyone, including me, to a "party" via a Facebook group. I leave it immediately. She PMs me a few weeks back, saying that she knows I can see her posting all about these lashes. Goes on about how great they are, and I should order some. I don't really wear makeup unless the occasion calls for it. So... no.

Cue to today. I post an update about how I am just over today, as it had been quite long, tiring, and full of fuckery.

"Aww I'm sorry! Today was great for me. I got a promotion with a commission increase and earned a $ 250 makeup shopping spree. And I stayed in my jammies all day lol"

...

Really?

Do these people just lose all common sense and courtesy because of the shit they're trying to hawk off on everyone else? I had to resist from telling her to get a real job.

Anyone else noticed this trend with these MLM bullshit scam companies? Have you lost/dropped friends over it?

Signs of the above individuals- Virgo and Scorp.

On that note I have a Taurus friend that got involved with Amway in the past five years. He has alienated friends & family in his transformation from human to full-fledged Am-bot. Constantly trying to sell everyone in his social circle & family "the dream", allowing said sales efforts & Amway motivational seminars to monopolize free-time & thinking of it as a "get-rich-quick" system.

He's still drinking the Amway Kool Aid & fell for their scam hook, line & sinker; under the guise it'll eventually make him a self-employed/self-made millionaire...when if anything, in reality his participation has cost him more than it's been beneficial. 😢

That's usually the case. The friend who got into the dietary crap was bouncing from company to company at some point. It was amusing considering he kept going on and on about how amazing the first company was. Then he moved along to something else. Then something else. From juice, to magic coffee, to cell phone plans, to... some sort of energy supplement, last I saw. And you know he's doing it because he was no longer making money at the previous one. I'm sure some people can make money if they're able to find a niche early, early on. But by now, most people are aware of what crap these companies are and just don't want to bother with that kind of kool aid. :/

Yep, had a not so fantastic friend turn even less fantastic when he got into Amway. 😛

Right? I just had someone, who's basically an acquaintance, invite me to a Facebook "party" to sell Jamberry nail crap. This is the second time I've had someone do this to me. It's always the bored housewives who barely have any of their own money because they rely on hubby to finance them.

This individual in particular is someone I barely hear from, snubbed me and a couple of other mutual friends from her wedding, but managed to invite us to her BABY SHOWER (happened before the wedding), and barely keeps in touch with any of us. "HAY GUISE, YOU WANT TO BUY SOME OF MY SHIT I'M SELLING??"

No. Stop talking to me. :/

MLMers are trash.

Worst now is Wake up now

It's just amazing to me that it turns perfectly sane people into crazies with this stuff.

And the thing is that you know THEY know what they're doing is questionable when they start using sneaky tactics- like the one above and what she said in regard to my FB update- a very underhanded way to try to pique my interest.

Another one was trying to lure me in to a meeting. He made it sound like we were going to hang out and go to something of his interest, but as I pried more info out of him, it was a koolaid meeting with an MLM he was into.

Someone else was telling me about how they were excited about this new venture that their friend got them into and how it was going to be so great, blah blah. I asked what it was, and they refused to tell me up front and said that they couldn't even begin to explain it and they should just click the link they provided. I already knew what it was based on the approach.

Will never understand the appeal of MLMs. Unless you're the one who starts the entire company, I don't see how people manage to make any sort of significant profit. :/
