Congradulations! Now aren't you glad that's over with?

My graduation's June 29th. I get a white robe and a sash for NHS and a rope for Honor Key. Fun Fun Fun, we're going to start throwing a beach ball around durring the pricipal's speach.

How many people were in your graduating class? There's about 600 in mine, and I'm going to hate waiting while everyone has to go get their diplomas... Oh well, at least it's air conditioned.

Actually, I never checked my rank. My GPA was an 87.667 though, which puts me somewhere near the bottom of my class (of 149 students). And I'm going to Keene State college b/c it's close and inexpensive, but I'm exchanging to Britain as soon as I get 30 credits (that's sometime my junior year). To answer the questions about why my class is so small and why I'm so near the bottom with a high B GPA, my school is a private school except for everyone from my town, who get in with taxpayers' (namely, our parents, so it is fitting) dollars. My entire alma-mater only contains 627 students. I could have been in the top ten of my class, though, if I hadn't started slacking off late last year. My GPA used to be a 96 and even then I wasn't turning in every assignment. My midterms and finals were what held me up, otherwise I would have completely failed the only class I needed to graduate: English Lit.

And thank you for the congratulations Morgan! 🙂

Wow, you must live in a very small town. And come now Josh, you were going to fail English Lit., after you are an author and all— I could understand it being math or something of that sort, but English? Sheesh... 😛

My grade point average is like a 97.7 and I think I'm 33 in my class, which puts me just barely in the top five percent...

But anyway, Exchanging in britain sounds like a lot of fun, I want to do the same thing... Actually, I'd like to go every where. My school has exchange programs with Australia and New Zealand as well... And if I knew another language well enough, I could go to other non-english speaking countries *sigh*... I want to go to Prague.

On second thought, I really hate school. I hate my english teacher most of all. For our final exam we have to writ these essays expressing our personal points of view and how we benefited for the class and that kind of bs... It's going to be very hard for me to write anything possitive, a true challenge... I'll try to be subtle about it, but I'm sure she's going to pick upon the sarcasm. But anyway, I think I'm just going to drop out. I can't figure out why I should go to college anyway. I'll probably go for the first year, hate it, and then just leave. I won't tell anyone, I'll just walk out one day, and never come back.

To put in my two bits here..

I liked college. There were no other (high)school rivalries anymore, it wasn't "us" and "them", just 1 big school. Also the amount of topic matter to discuss tripled. Anyone you sat with in the coffee shop, etc, usually was taking some subject you could relate to or found fascinating.

I think there were more functions to attend, be involved in, etc. Being in a fraternity also helped.

The level of envolvement was much higher, people realized they're trying to figure out what to become. Everyone needed and gave advice. Plus, the instructors do not care (per se) whether you attend class or not. You're an adult, and were treated like one. Just more freedom over all.

Don't drop out before you see what's out there. College isn't just about taking classes. It's sticking to a plan, people interaction (and survival) and finding yourself. It's ALOT more than just the paper you'll take with you.

The university we have here in my home town is not famous for anything. I wonder where it would actually rank on the scale of academia. (Harvard, etc.. has No fear of us, Ok.) It's also 3 times the expense to go there for say, an English class, then it would be our nearby community college. That bothers me. I was aware of teachers whose lights just weren't all lit, shall we say, and yet, I had to learn to give back their information, to get the grade I wanted, to get that paper, to impress someone for a job.
You're right, it's very hypocrial. (is that a word?) Ok - hypocritical. It taught me to learn to play the system, and while a good experience, also vaguely sad. But that's what life is I imagine. (I consider myself a Realist, BTW.. neither a pessemist nor an optomist.)

Hmmm... So many to chose from, so little time... I went in as an undecided major, but lately I've been thinking about going for an economics major, although I'd like to double major with psychology as well, and I would like at least a minor in computer science... And I just think it's an aweful shame that while I'm theire at BU with all these great writers and poets then I don't take at least a few English classes... And art classes as well, because I need some outlet for my creativity, or else I really will go insane...

MM I liked economics once I understood it, but not enough to ask for more. (Kind of like civics.. glad it's there, but no more for me, thanks.) Psychology would be very interesting. I've had a few classes and Did want more. (then again, "they" say the people taking the first few courses are only there to figure out what's wrong with them.
Hmm. I liked English Lit also, but hated producing something within the class time. Pressure writing. Art Appreciation I did, that was enough. (Teacher issues.)
I remember some Botchelli paintings depicting heaven and hell..and I just knew that man had discovered 'shrooms somewhere.

lol... he liked to paint spring nimphs running around in the woods...

Evil Fayries no doubt.. up to no good whatsoever. Wicked Will O'Wisps. Although.. I like the idea of the loose garment business with all those briars and brambles laying about in the deep dark woods. Their clothing didn't seem all that durable in the paintings I've seen.

(There. I've really got to pay more attention now.)

I think I was mistaken, I thought you meant paintings. The title "Quills" should have jarred my memory. If it's rentable, it can't have been out too long? I prefer watching most movies at home myself.
Quite off the subject.. I have seen "The Emperor's New Clothes", and I think both of you would like it. Consider it a parallel time line. "What if Napoeleon managed to escape from Elba and make it back to France, in disquise." It's a love story, believe or not, and very good. It's realizing what you think you want, may not be what makes you happy. And it Does have a happy ending. I'm considering buying it, after the prices fall.

Emperor's New Clothes.. err, don't know the female lead, but the male lead is the same character that plays the 1st android in Aliens. (Ash?) Middle aged, portly, close cropped hair. Napolean goes back to France, is befriended by a female (?)fruit peddler, gets room and board, learns and improves her trade..and eventually realizes this new life as a common man who's loved, is truly better than being Emperor, without love.
