Holidays are just days off of work or school (hopefully).

no, i always like the word holiday over a vacation. and it's more elgant and more special of a word in my view. a vacation using a book, using a music, tv., friends, a garden trimming. a holiday makes out to be what such things truly are a more special outing "away from life".
