I just watched the news and they were talking about a guy called William Melchert-Dinkel. Apparently Mr Melchert-Dinkel preyed on people with depression in 'suicide sites'. He encouraged them to kill themselves on web-cam (while he watched) under the pretence that he was also killing himself. He was tracked down (by the FBI) after emails shared between him and latest victim (nadia kajouji) were found in her computer. In one of the emails he told her to buy a rope and hang herself infront of her computer, but she chose to drown herself instead. Now Mr Melchert-Dinkel has a chance of walking scott-free simply because he didnt 'physically help them'. Btw thats what 'legal expects' say. What BS!

What do u guys think?

No he didnt see her drown, but she promised him in one of her emails that if she failed (from drowning herself) she was then gonna hang herself with him via web-cam. His victims are not only women, men too. The reason (given) for his big chance at walking free is because he didnt force them to commit suicide, they did it themselves without any physical assistance from him, which is what matters according to some expects and the law (apparently).

Funny i though aquas would top lists of law breakers but it isnt so. The quiet sweet ones are the ones who end up being serial killers. Every serial killer i ever read about is always described by family, friends, etc as being polite, helpful, etc. Dont u find that strange? The aggressive and violent people never actually kill, its usually the 'angels' that do it. Mr M.D was/is a church going family man.

Nemesis, he met his victims at website for suicidal people aka suicide sites. He pretended to also suffer from depression in order to gain trust from other members of the said sites. Once he got their trust he then made 'death pacts' with them. On the day when him and his 'death friend' were suppose to kill themselves, he then pretends to have a technical problem with his webcam so the other wont see that he wasnt really killing himself. But on his side he sees the whole suicide take place.

I agree with u cancepio, his intent was pure evil hence the watching. It shouldnt matter that he didnt physically help them do it. The guy was a nurse at the time (for God's sake), he knew what he was doing. Most people with depression idealize death or see it as a solution to their suffering, so if somebody (a health professional no less) comes and 'sympathize' with them and agrees with them that death is indeed the only solution- they are going to buy it. On top of that, give them ways to make it (death) less painful. He played on their illness and emotions, for that he deserves the 15 years he managed to dodge.

A good way to look at it is this way- lets say u suffer from migraines all your life and couldnt live with it anymore. U meet a doctor/nurse who specializes in migraines, but was also a sufferer of the same condition with no help (he cant help even himself). He then tells u migrains are incurable, there's no point living with migrains, etc, so its better to cut off your head, even better, u must both cut off your heads. Ur going to do it because emotionally ur vulnerable because of your condition (anything is better than your current situation) and 2ndly because its a health professional with better medical knowledge so if he says its pointless to live with it, then its pointless. Why do u think he chose to tell them his proffession- to gain their trust (on what he was telling them to do, the hopelessness of living with a mental condition, etc, all given from a professional's pov who happens to be also a sufferer) so he could easily manipulate them.
