July 15, 2014 - a deadly typhoon hit the Philippines. One of the provinces that suffered tremendously from this calamity is the very province I am currently living in (Albay).

The howling winds were so strong. It was so scary. I thought our house was going to be blown away. The typhoon rampaged our province from about 4 pm in the afternoon until around 9:30 in the evening. Gallons of water entered our house. We heard from the news that the eye of the typhoon landed in the town of Sto. Domingo, Albay, about 20 kilometers to the north of our town. That was the first landfall of the typhoon so it was pretty much very strong at that time.

I thought a lot of people are going to die. But a miracle has happened. A day after the typhoon landed, I just heard from the news that nobody from our province died.

A similar typhoon hit the country eight years ago. It took 250 lives. There is a huge difference between the two but what could be the reason?

One of the reasons why nobody died was the successful preemptive evacuation preparations that the provincial government of Albay under the helm of Gov. Joey Salceda has done.

Another reason, however, were the prayers the locales recited. Almost every hour, radio stations played the "Oratio Imperata for Deliverance from Calamities."

It was one of the worst typhoons that hit the province in recent history but we were thankful nobody died. We firmly believe that the prayers the locales recited was one of the reasons for this miracle. It is a testament that faith in God can be much stronger than the deadly winds of a strong typhoon. It could make a difference.

The Oratio Imperata for Deliverance from Calamities works. I have reproduced the prayer here. If you and your hometown are about to face a deadly calamity, you may want to recite this prayer:

—Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part, for Your providence in sustaining us in our needs, and for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.

—We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation.

—We have not been good stewards of Nature.

—We have confused Your command to subdue the earth.

—The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing, and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.

—Global warming is upon us. Typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption, and other natural calamities occur in increasing number and intensity.

—We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins.

—We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.

—We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation, and generous neighbors to those in need.

—Amen.??

If this prayer worked for us, it could very well work for you too. I just want to share this wonderful prayer as a sign of gratitude to the Almighty and as my contribution to the worldwide efforts in mitigating the effects of Climate Change. We can all work this out... by not only helping one another but also by strengthening our faith to Our Creator. May we all survive this deadly phase in man's history and be able to make the Human Society stronger and the world a much safer place to live in. All for good. All for us. And all for generations yet to come...
