Yes, it is ANNUAL. The astrologers have foretold that 2013 is going to be a way different year than the past 2000 years. An end of an era, as they say. I AM HERE TO PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS THAT FROM NOW ON, WE ARE GOING TO HOLD THE ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BRAINS COMPETITIONS. Truly, as we have seen, the 2013 members of DXP are one of a kind: wacky trendsetters that sort of made what used to be a boring site into what we know now today. It is no longer what it used to be. Threads posted are now crazier, funnier, and just out of this world weird but can sort of crack you up and say, "well that is something NEW." There is always something that will shock you. Traditions are going, going, gone. And now, a new one has sprouted. THE FIRST OF THESE NEW TRADITIONS IS THIS. So why are the changes HAPPENING? @_@ BLAME THE AGE OF AQUARIUS!

Since we are now in the Age of Aquarius, the Age of Intellect and of Truth, it is but just appropriate to begin the ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BRAINS COMPETITIONS. Aquarius, is after all, a BRAINY sign of the zodiac... so this is just but the RIGHT TIME! 🙂

The questions will be divided into the FOLLOWING FIELDS OF KNOWLEDGE:

*Miss Universe Questions
*Awkward Situations
*How to Kill the Rabbit
*Recreating World History
*HERstory
*Trick Me

More Fields will be added as this thread goes along. You can recommend some fields you want to be added since this annual competition is still in its INCEPTION STAGE. I will be posting the MAIN thread on DECEMBER 1, 2013. The competitions will end on DECEMBER 31, 2013. 😛

The answers will be rated as to WIT. This is like a Miss Universe Q & A portion, expanded to include several other fields of knowledge. We begin with Miss Universe Category as the easiest round. In this category, the questions will be something that will be asked in a beauty pageant. The person who has the WITTIEST answer will get the highest points for that round. The next category is "Awkward Situations" where the question would be situational in form. An awkward situation will be narrated and the question would always be, "what will you do?" Again, the wittiest answer will get the highest score. Third round is "How to Kill the Rabbit." This round takes a special form in that the round title itself is already the question and this is the only round where the question is already known to the contestants even before the competition begins.

Recreating World History is the 4th round. A year will be given to the contestants and the contestants would then asked to narrate the next series of events that happened after that year. The answers will not however be rated according to the wittiness but rather it would be rated according to PROBABILITY or NEARNESS TO ACTUALITY. Meaning to say, the contestant should give an answer that is VERY PROBABLE according to the SITUATIONS HAPPENING DURING THAT YEAR and WHAT COULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE. An answer that is witty will be given higher points but... an answer that is so far from probability, regardless of its wit factor will get a lower score.

5th round is HERstory. This is different from the 4th round and would actually depend more on the emotional value of the contestant's answer. A year in history would be given and the events of that year will be narrated as part of the question. The contestants will be asked to narrate what happened afterwards. The historical event in the question has something to do with GENDER LINES.

6th round is TRICK ME. No question given. Just trick the panelists. 🙂

Should be fun 🙂 I like the idea that scoring would be based off the answer rather than just knowledge itself so there be no google heroes! Plus should be fun to see how people answer 😛

^^Yup! Me too, aquasnozzy! I've always been watching Miss Universe coz I really like to see who answers the very last but decisive question in the best manner! LOL. It's really fun to see how people answer... and we have so many witty people here on DXP too sooo it should be fun!

Yeah funnily enough I watched the last Miss Universe in Vegas (on tv) and they completely screwed Miss Philippines in the final. The only one to give an answer with any character.

I still don't know. I haven't decided yet... I will not decide until I'm sure. The panelists would give scores right after the answers and will also comment on the answers. TMV sounds more like Mariah Carey to me though. lol.

Another thing though, the panelists would deliberate on the "Recreating World History" Round since that round requires some knowledge about world history. The judges would not give their scores until they have deliberated upon the matter but they may give comments before the deliberations. For this reason, the panelists I'm looking for must have quite a good knowledge about history. 🙂

After doing the Survivor debates earlier this year I'm a little 'meh' about competing again. Too much potential for senseless drama and butt-hurtedness for me. And I'm not sure I've been here long enough to be accepted in a judge type capacity. Some of the vets might have something to say about that lol.

Mmm, you must be too new here to know about those debates. It was an annual kind of things that another DXP user organized where members competed to answer questions and then do challenges or get voted off the game at the end of each round. NYAA won the last one and I think Dazed won the first.

Tiz, the deliberations part (to be made by the panelists on the "Recreating the World History") would allow the judges to know more about the world history and actually fill in the gaps of what they don't know. The deliberations would allow them to make a more informed decision as they raise the score card. The judges need not know everything. They just have to know some sort of bits about history.

Plus, the scores should also be based on the CREATIVITY of the contestant. However, it should not be too far from truth. 🙂

RABBIT: You can sign up as CONTESTANT! 🙂 There's only one round that's a little technical and it's the RECREATING THE WORLD HISTORY round but that's because I just don't want ANACHRONISTIC answers! LOL. All the rest, you can count on your WIT or your WISDOM! 🙂

Don't disappoint me now, I heard you had an IQ score of 135.

NOPE. The judges will score the answers based on the WIT/WISDOM of the answers. On the 4th round, which is the RECREATING THE WORLD HISTORY ROUND, the judges will base their scores on the CREATIVITY of the answers but as much as possible, the answers must NOT BE ANACHRONISTIC. Otherwise, the scores will be lowered down a bit. On the 5th round, HERSTORY, the scores would be based on SNAP. 🙂

This idea sounds a little different. I definitely wouldn't do the Survivor thing again though unless you like a lot of public backlash.

I'm confused about the rules.

This is a BATTLE about HOW PEOPLE ANSWER BEST the way you do in a Miss Universe beauty pageant BUT WITH A LITTLE TWIST. Then we have 3 judges who would each give their comments about the answers and then give scores for the answers of the contestants. There are at least 5 rounds:

*Miss Universe
*Awkward Situation
*How to Kill the Rabbit
*Recreating World History
*HERstory

The judges would base their scores on the WIT, WISDOM and CREATIVITY of the answers. The titles of the rounds would give you an idea on what the round is all about, at the very least. The scores would be tallied. At the end of each round, the partial scores would be revealed so that the contestants would know who's leading. At the end of the competition, the winning contestant will receive the award "THE ULTIMATE DXP WONDERBOY/GIRL, NOW ASK ME SOME QUESTIONS!"

This game is still on its inception stage. That means, this is not yet final. You can actually suggest what I still need to add, what I need to eliminate, etc. etc.

The competition will begin on December 1, 2013 and will end on December 31, 2013. 🙂

I have a feeling this is going to turn into a who can be the biggest smartass contest lol.
