And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land.

-- Ezekiel 34/2

THE REAL REASON CANNABIS HAS BEEN OUTLAWED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ITS EFFECTS ON THE MIND AND BODY.

MARIJUANA is DANGEROUS. Pot is NOT harmful to the human body or mind. Marijuana does NOT pose a threat to the general public. Marijuana is very much a danger to the oil companies, alcohol, tobacco industries and a large number of chemical corporations. Various big businesses, with plenty of dollars and influence, have suppressed the truth from the people.

The truth is if marijuana was utilized for its vast array of commercial products, it would create an industrial atomic bomb! Entrepreneurs have not been educated on the product potential of pot. The super rich have conspired to spread misinformation about an extremely versatile plant that, if used properly, would ruin their companies.

Where did the word 'marijuana' come from? In the mid 1930s, the M-word was created to tarnish the good image and phenomenal history of the hemp plant...as you will read. The facts cited here, with references, are generally verifiable in the Encyclopedia Britannica which was printed on hemp paper for 150 years:

* All schoolbooks were made from hemp or flax paper until the 1880s; Hemp Paper Reconsidered, Jack Frazier, 1974.

* It was LEGAL TO PAY TAXES WITH HEMP in America from 1631 until the early 1800s; LA Times, Aug. 12, 1981.

* REFUSING TO GROW HEMP in America during the 17th and 18th Centuries WAS AGAINST THE LAW! You could be jailed in Virginia for refusing to grow hemp from 1763 to 1769; Hemp in Colonial Virginia, G. M. Herdon.

* George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other founding fathers GREW HEMP; Washington and Jefferson Diaries. Jefferson smuggled hemp seeds from China to France then to America.

* Benjamin Franklin owned one of the first paper mills in America and it processed hemp. Also, the War of 1812 was fought over hemp. Napoleon wanted to cut off Moscow's export to England; Emperor Wears No Clothes, Jack Herer.

* For thousands of years, 90% of all ships' sails and rope were made from hemp. The word 'canvas' is Dutch for cannabis; Webster's New World Dictionary.

* 80% of all textiles, fabrics, clothes, linen, drapes, bed sheets, etc. were made from hemp until the 1820s with the introduction of the cotton gin.

* The first Bibles, maps, charts, Betsy Ross's flag, the first drafts of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were made from hemp; U.S. Government Archives.

* The first crop grown in many states was hemp. 1850 was a peak year for Kentucky producing 40,000 tons. Hemp was the largest cash crop until the 20th Century; State Archives.

* Oldest known records of hemp farming go back 5000 years in China, although hemp industrialization probably goes back to ancient Egypt.

* Rembrants, Gainsboroughs, Van Goghs as well as most early canvas paintings were principally painted on hemp linen.

* In 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by the 1940s all paper would come from hemp and that no more trees need to be cut down. Government studies report that 1 acre of hemp equals 4.1 acres of trees. Plans were in the works to implement such programs; Department of Agriculture

* Quality paints and varnishes were made from hemp seed oil until 1937. 58,000 tons of hemp seeds were used in America for paint products in 1935; Sherman Williams Paint Co. testimony before Congress against the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act.

* Henry Ford's first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the CAR ITSELF WAS CONTRUCTED FROM HEMP! On his large estate, Ford was photographed among his hemp fields. The car, 'grown from the soil,' had hemp plastic panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than steel; Popular

Hello QBone,
Aside from all the interesting points you listed I would like to add, that I was under the assumption that the THC concentration of the cultivated hemp is that low, that the effect when smoking it isn?t noticable.
So really I do agree that the "hemp issue" in many countries is a more economic than health decision. Especially when the fact that cigarettes and alcohol (I admit I consume both :-) ) are much more harmful than marihuana. But: taxes are paid for both and that keeps the economy going, right?

Hi sweet-p welcome back!

IMHO use of everything in excessively is devastating including simple ?tobacco?!

When Columbus introduced the ?tobacco? to the Europe no body knew that it should be ?smoked? in ceremony and special events ?and tobacco? at that time was blend of ?hemp? and ?tobacco? and natives smoked that to have visions and inspirations, look what we?ve got today? (Including me)!

Smoking weed?s ?MAGNIFYING and ENHANCING? the human?s senses and PERCEPTIONS, what ever state of mind or emotions you are and smoking it, your feelings get UPGRADED. This is the fact?

It?s not a drug like heroin and variants it?s not like even opium? there is no HEMP addictions!

I am all against narcotics, but HEMP is not a narcotic.. It?s a medicine that has been used since the Stone Age and it is essential ?actually? for human societies.

Some facts..!

Botanically, hemp is a member of the most advanced plant family on Earth. It is a dioecious, (having male, female, and sometimes hermaphroditic plants), woody. It is an herbaceous annual that uses the sun more efficiently than virtually any other plant on our planet, reaching heights from 12 to 20 feet or more in one growing season.(3 to 6 months) Hemp can be grown in virtually any climate or soil condition on Earth and is by far the Earth's premier, renewable natural resource.

From more than 1000 B.C. until 1883 hemp was the planet's largest agricultural crop and most important industry for thousands of products and enterprises. Hemp produced the majority of earth's fibers, fabrics, lighting oils, paper, incense, and the primary source of food oil and protein for humans and animals.

More of this at?. http://www.artistictreasure.com/learnmorehemp.html<BR>

Uses as food

Hemp may be grown also for food (the seed) but in the UK at least (and probably in other EU countries) cultivation licences are not available for this purpose. Within Defra (the UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) hemp is treated as purely a non-food crop, despite the fact that seed can and does appear on the UK market as a perfectly legal food product.

Uses as nutrition

Both the complete protein and the oils contained in hempseeds (rich in lanolin and linolenic acids) are in ideal ratios for human nutrition.

Uses as fibre

Until its rediscovery in the late 1980s, the use of hemp for fibre production had declined sharply over the past decades, but hemp still occupied an important place amongst natural fibres as it is strong, durable and unaffected by water. The main uses of hemp fibre were in rope, sacking, carpet, nets and webbing. A hemp clothing industry was reborn in the West in 1988, and hemp is being used in increasing quantities in paper manufacturing. The cellulose content is about 70% .

Uses as fuel

Fuel is often a by-product of hemp cultivation.

The ban on HEMP and Marijuana has a political/economical reason, and this has nothing to do with our health and life?.!

Okay, well I sorta kinda already mentioned twice that I am native american on my mothers side of the family. Some of those beliefs are stuck to me and I like it that way,was taught alot of things people don't know about survival. So I think it is political/industrial reasons the herbal drugs are illegal, and using a few examples to make uninformed people fear what could be a problem to thier pockets.Yeah, crack, coke and those drugs really are a bad thing, but I think there does definately need to be some education spread around on drugs so people will know which votes are a good or bad.Not to long ago I remember over the counter Yew coming up in the news as a bad thing. When one dumbass didn't stop taking it long after the point that it helped what she was taking it for and died.I knew as soon as I heard the name, from the native american medicine books, that it is poisonous, but still has it's healing purposes,it's just that you have to know that when it helps its time to stop. There definatly needs to be a few changes for the better on the whole, but not the ones coming from greedy pricks using stupid peoples mistakes to thier advantage.Edumatations good and I actually love system of a down, ratm and eminim, etc. for those reasons.

Brahn0913...

You are the biggest hypocrite I have EVER had the experience of somewhat knowing!

I mean it has been proven MILLIONS of times over that of all "mind altering" substances Marijuana is the least harmful including your coverted cigarettes. How can you sit there in your right mind in one sentence that all pot heads are stupid when....

Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 chemicals, many of them known poisons.
Nicotine and carbon monoxide are the main culprits in heart and blood vessel disease. Tar in tobacco contains dozens of chemicals that cause cancer.
Smoking adds to the artery-clogging process that can lead to heart attack and stroke. It also overworks the heart and reduces its oxygen supply, makes clots more likely to form in blood vessels, and increases the risk of potentially fatal changes in the heart beat.
The evidence of the link between passive smoking and heart disease is ever increasing. When you are close to people who are smoking, you breathe in both a mixture of the smoke they breathe out and the smoke from the burning end of the cigarette. Smoke is rapidly absorbed from your lungs and circulates around your body, damaging the lining of blood vessels and over time, increasing your risk of heart attack.
Risks

Cigarette smoking:

doubles the risk of heart attack;
doubles the risk again if you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol;
increases the risk of heart attack 10 times in women using the contraceptive pill;
doubles the risk of stroke; and
increases the risk of gangrene by more than 5 times.
Non-smokers who live with smokers have an average a 30% increase in risk of death from heart attack and are also more likely to suffer a stroke.

NEED I SAY MORE!
Seems like YOU are the stupid one!

I don't want to say my current status of whether I smoke it because I am at work and the IT people have the opportunity to read everything I write and it IS still illegal

BUT

I know HUNDREDS of people who smoke and have smoked almost everyday of their lives and not only are they still doing great (Have jobs, maintain healthy life style , etc.) but they don't BOTHER anyone else in the process. On the other hand, everytime I leave the freakin building I have to deal with walking through a cloud of smoke that chokes me and risks my health.

BESIDES! Your uncle was a CRACKHEAD! There is a slight difference between that & the chronic...

A post on another topic prompted me to do this one:

What are some good home remedies for such things as burns? Bites from snakes or wasps? Anyone know how to make a splint or tourniquet? Best ways to get rid of fevers or chills? Rashes?

A simple question.....what is considered the most redeeming quality of every person who visits this board?

Don't lie, and don't pass the buck, and everyone answers for themselves.
