This is something that has been going on for a while now but it was a snake of thought that slithered back into my mind the other day (I don't have "trains" of thought, they're snakes)

I have not switched to purchasing Blu-Ray.

And there are two reasons for this

1. Expense to Quality ratio. (The quality of DVDs is not so insuperior that I need to pay even more for essentially the same viewing experience)

2. WHY THE FUCK DID THEY FEEL THE NEED TO RUIN THE CLASSICS!?

In the "remastering" process of.. let's say something like The Godfather. (it was on at my Uncle's house a long while back when I first noticed this fowl practice)

The remasterers of movies wanted to brighten up the colors to make the scenes more vivid so the camera quality/lighting more so reflects the block busters of today.

However, in the process, I have noticed the oddity occurs where it seems as if THE ENTIRE MOVIE was filmed in front of a green screen! Even though it was not!

The actors are separated from the background in this unnatural and extremely distracting way.

If a movie is older. Just let it be older.

I like the vintage overly-dark-less-crystal-clear look just the way it is and I appreciate it for what it is and understand that it was just what they had to work with/how they did things at the time.

This remastering of movies just makes them look worse.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I just feel like it is not a problem now but will be once DVDs are no longer sold. Buy your favorites while you can guys...
