What are the most embarrassing/funniest/shocking things you've heard at weddings?

A friend of mine got married a few years ago & her father was so proud. He was so proud that in his speech he mentioned she was still a virgin. She wasn't. As a matter of fact she was pregnant. She pressure her boyfriend to marry her before she started 'showing' or her parents would kill her. The groom obviously knew the truth & us too (the bride, me & two other friends). It was an uncomfortable moment because if he knew! My God! He is a very strict father. When she gave birth she lied to her parents & said the baby was premature lol.

Hands down for me was when we were at the town hall, I was sitting next to my godmother. It's a small ceremony room for the close family and friends to witness the actual wedding. My godmother leans over to me and says "just remember when you get married, enjoy the first seven years. After that, it's done."

Unfortunately that was the moment when the priest decided to stop talking, and the hush in the room only developed into an extended awkward silence.

Other than that, just the usual drunken behaviour from jealous bridesmaids as standard.

Hahaha. Talking about drunken behaviour, there was a funeral around my city a few mnths back...a friend of mine lives in the exact place where they were burying this guy. He was some kind of a thug, sold drugs & was friends with Nigerians (known drug dealers here). He died during a motorcycle accident & was a member of some bike club. After the funeral was over, they had what they call 'after tears', so people got drunk. His club's members decided to do a 'doughnut' (driving in circles) in his memory & they say this drunk mama jumped in the middle of the doughnut with her bloomers waving in the air like she is a 'flag girl' in F1 or something. It made news! People were disgusted lol.

A former colleague of mine was quite known for getting around among the young adults of our community. She eventually got an arranged marriage with a guy from the US (we live in the UK). They were going to have their honeymoon in London together for about 3 months before he'd fly back to the States. One of the singers they had at the wedding was her ex, which the groom was unaware of. He serenaded her a song he specially wrote for her. The groom was clueless. A few weeks after the wedding she started going out in groups excessively and her husband caught her secretly meeting with several of her exes. He cut his trip short and flew back to the States, intending to divorce her. But she fell pregnant. Last time I've heard from them they were trying to sort things out lol

Wow.

The reception was held at a hotel. Bride and groom disappeared for what seemed like hours. We all thought they had gone up to their room to start the honeymoon phase. The part about them being in the room was true but it was the divorce phase that would follow. He was so drunk, he had gotten violent with her and ripped her dress.

We only found that out the next day.

He was arrested that night by a guest (who was a cop). Yes, they broke up.

I remember this woman telling me about how she met this guy, and he was really sweet and loving while they were dating.

Eventually, they got engaged and supposedly had a wonderful time together, and he just seemed like the greatest guy ever.

Cut to several months later:

They had just left their wedding ceremony, they were sitting out in the car getting ready to leave for their honeymoon, and without any warning whatsoever, he turns and punches her in the face, breaks her nose, and says, —I own you now!??

That's the most shocking wedding story I??ve ever heard. lol

Just as bad as mine 😛
