I am having a major problem at work with a girl with whom I have clashed since day one of my employment there in January. Every single time I work with her I want to tell her to treetrunk off because she is such a cookiemonster. She bosses me around yet has NO authority to do so, she undermines me in a very demeaning way in front of customers, and she makes me want to quit my job every time we work together. She is the only one I don't like out of the whole crew. The rest of us get along like a dream. She is a miserable person who wants to drag everyone down. All of my coworkers agree. The problem is, she's been there two years and I've been there five months. Something has to be done so I'm finally going to talk to my manager about it. I am really having a hard time getting up the courage to do that, I don't know why. It's just hard to do. I'm going to tell her everything, that this girl leaves me alone in the store for a half hour at a time while she's on the clock to go talk to her friends and smoke at the bar next door, while I'm slammed helping customers...that she tells me in a very malicious way to "hurry, run!" when I ask if I can go to the ladies' room...that she gets on my case for not doing HER work, oh god the list could go on forever. The thing is, I don't want to cause a problem or make things between us even more uncomfortable than they already are, by letting it get out that I "told" on her. But I can't deal with her butter anymore.
you either tell her off personally after work and pour whatever you hate about her, after work. if she doesn't budge and get the treetrunken picture then all you need to treetrunken do is beat the butter out of her... im kidding, but wouldn't that be a good solution... back to reality, let the managers know in a confidential way and let the powers that be have a talk with the trash of the bunch.
I know a girl like that, I wonder if cookiemonster is written into some people's DNA. In either case, I have the hardest time restraining myself from bashing her head in. I'm sure most of everyone I know would love it if I did, it's too bad that killing her would probably be illegal, since, I'm sure the world is better off without her.
and Ays0n, thanks for backing me up, it really is too long to be treated like that. I'm literally at my wit's end with this job. And she is probably responsible for 90% of that.
My other coworkers, in this last week I finally broke my silence and told all of them what she's been doing when it's just me and her, and they were all so pissed off about it. Every single one of them then came forward and said that she has been doing similar things to them. But that with me, it's like she's really targeting me. They also all said that it's probably because I appear very meek and mild, so she thinks she can get away with it. One of them said that it's because she's obese and much older than me so she might have jealousy issues. To which I replied, "what the hell does she think she has to compete with me over? her job? I don't WANT her job and I'm not out to get her! Gee I wish I could drive all over the state making deliveries to snooty salon owners all day. Oh boy, let me have THAT!" You know, it's just really juvenile. I've done nothing to her, I have ALWAYS been respectful to her EVEN when she was being a supreme cookiemonster. She is NOTHING BUT mean and disrespectful to me.
AND SHE'S LAZY! She'll say to me, "I'm gonna be in the back room doing paperwork". And she'll literally stay back there for hours at a time. Meanwhile, I have to answer all the calls (even though she has a phone in the back room), help ALL the customers, take all the orders, fill all the orders, front and face...and she's sitting back there doing NOTHING. It makes me so mad. How come she gets paid to do nothing, while I bust my ass and make no more than she does? How come butterty people always get by in life?
Phoenix, I think almost every single one of my coworkers at my last job were like the one you described. Lazy, worthless, cookiemonstery, etc.. And I eventually went to my spineless POS boss to tell him how lazy they were but once he heard their side of the story he believed them because they had been there longer than me. But atleast I did get transferred.
Romeclone, it's always comforting to hear that I am not the only person on the planet going through something. I'm glad you got transferred, that's great! Then you could really flourish as an employee. Without anyone trying to hold you back.
Freebird, what do you mean, why do I give my power away to her? I don't have any power in the corporation. She's (slightly) above me. She doesn't hold the official title of "Assistant Manager", but essentially that's what she is. So it's a real sticky situation for me. I can't exactly tell her to go treetrunk herself in front of customers, and I can't exactly do it behind the scenes either because she might then try to invent reasons to get me fired or get me to quit (which I believe is what she's already trying to do).
I just wanted to update everyone on this crappy situation: IT'S GOING TO BE FIXED!!! I AM SOOO HAPPY!!!
I went today to talk to my boss about it, and she was the BEST, MOST WONDERFUL BOSS EVER about EVERYTHING. She locked the door to the back room and wouldn't take any of her calls or anything, which I thought was very considerate (we work in a very loud, hectic environment 90% of the time and I was very worried that she would be distracted the whole time with work stuff). I had to work with Evil Girl the other day, and it came to the last straw with me when she again criticized a mistake I had made in front of the customer. Our policy is that with electrical items, you have ninety days to bring it back for a refund or an exchange in case for whatever reason you're not happy with it. But, you MUST have a receipt on the electricals. We're not allowed to do anything without a receipt on them like we could do on any other item in the store.
Well, apparently the day before I accidentally forgot about that detail, and I accidentally told a woman she could bring back her curling iron for an exchange without a receipt as long as whatever she was exchanging it for matched or exceeded the price of the iron. Yes, it's considered a medium-sized mistake, yes, I felt like an idiot as I always do when I make mistakes, yes it was embarrassing because Evil Girl pointed out my mistake in front of the customer. All of that I could have dealt with (although it's considered bad form to call people on their mistakes in front of customers). I said to the woman, "we will honor what I said, but it usually wouldn't work that way, I accidentally mixed up our policies and I apologize for that". The woman was absolutely fine with it, she was like, "oh that's okay honey, I'll just go look around for something I want". Okay.
But instead of leaving it at that, Evil Girl interrupts us and says, "Heather, I am going to slap you. It says right there (all snotty) on the box what the policy is. Read the box. It's right there." And she smirks and starts to walk away. I raised my voice and said, "well, I'm human, what can I say!" And she just chuckled evilly.
I had absolutely had it with her. I went to the back room and tearfully announced to my boss that I was going to unfortunately have to talk to her about some stuff that's been going on since January. She said, "okay, how about tomorrow afternoon?" so I agreed.
Went in there today and came out feeling like a new woman. Telling her what had been happening was one of the best things I've ever done in my life. It was kind of embarrassing because I was pretty emotional about all of it, but I recovered quickly and she gave me lots of hugs. She totally agreed that EVERYTHING this girl had been doing was completely unacceptable and that I had a right to feel like quitting because of it. She said that she doesn't want to lose me because I work hard and I'm a good employee, and that any way I wanted to resolve it would be okay with her. She said, "you don't have to talk to her if you don't want to" and I said that would definitely make me even more uncomfortable. She said, "I can certainly schedule you apart if you would like me to" and I said, "that would be the best thing EVER if I never have to work with her alone again". So in a week, my boss is calling a team meeting to discuss general problems/areas of concern, and then she'll talk to this witch privately to let her know that leaving any employee while she's on the clock other than to go to the bank or to get something to drink, is a violation of corporate policy that she could be disciplined heavily for. My boss also expressed to me that she knows this girl is lazy, and difficult to work with. So I felt very validated and comforted.
Do you think people are naturally selfish? Basically evil? Intent on their own distruction? OK, that was a little over dramatic. But do you think people are naturally selfish?
i mean what's the point of them. Why do we even have them. i just recived one saying u know the usual dead girl will show up by my bed... ohhh. scray. but yet we still send them anyway. Why? Will this odd human tendence ever end?
