Starting to regret ever learning about astrology.

Perhaps this thread has been made a trillion times on here... And I'm just another nimrod beating the same dead horse... But man... asgrology consumes my thoughts. I have been told to just "not think about it" as a solution by my scorpio friend who is also very into astrology, and as nice as that sounds... I CANT!!! I could use the mental space to think about guitar, socializing, creative humor, creative writing, bodybuilding, riding (motocross), and all the other stuff I LOVE experiencing... But instead I spend 80% of my mental energy some days thinking about scorpios and pisces... I obsess over my own sign, its weird. I wonder if I'm a typical pisces or a pisces at all because people like kurt cobain and other pisces are so much more passive and well liked than me. I get into tons of arguments at work and make friends easily only through humor, never has someone said "You are so sweet!" Because naturally, I am not sweet... My natural state is indifference to most things. Is this a pisces trait? Who knows... Who cares! What a wasteful mental tangent. And thats just the tip of the ice burg... It really is. All of that is time I could have spent bettering myself and my hobbies! Ignorance could be bliss in this situation... and theres no going back. What does knowing astrology give us? That is the question I'd love someone to answer for me... Unless I want to be a crystal ball wielding nut job, it will get me nowhere. It is fun at first, and then turns into a waste of energy. So yeah... wondering if anyone else can relate to my rant right about now... What kind of pisces worries about stuff like this? Maybe astrology is just a bunch of B.S....

Maybe astrology is just a bunch of BS.

And maybe it can introduce you to the energies you were gifted and give you a better understanding of yourself, others and the universe as a collective. Your astrological knowledge can be helpful or it can be destructive, the choice is up to you though.

So what you are saying is I'm ridiculous for having these thoughts...

How is it up to me? I can think positive things about astrology and guess what? I'm still thinking about astrology instead of something that is HERE AND NOW. it distracts from the only thing that IS for sure real and the only thing that can bring us happiness which is the here and now... the moment. Hobbies, relationships, life...

You can learn all the cosmic wonders of the universe... And have that all in your mind... But guess what? IT means nothing. Because despite all the spiritual facts of life, we are still on earth as humans. We are SUPPOSED to be living life. That is what we are here to do. To distract ourselves from that to ponder things that if by some chance happen to be cosmic spiritual facts, are just that... cosmic spiritual facts... and thus already exist and are already in order. They don't change if we know them or not... So why? Why learn about them... Why take time away from the very thing they are in place to create and organize just to understand?

You take time away to learn a martial art, you have that skill. you take time away for college to become educated, you have education. you take time away to learn spiritual new aged stuff... You have either one of two things.... wasted energy being as that there is always that chance that it is all in our heads... and that the universe and personalities are completely different than what we think they are. Or we have useless knowledge. All the good things that I have learned from focusing on the singular consciousness theory and astrology could have been discovered in a material way using life experiences and the here and now.

It's like a hamster realizing he is a house pet and that is why he is surrounded by walls and has an exsercize wheel... now he knows why, but nothing changes... he still uses the same exercise wheel and runs up and down the same plastic tubing. He now just understands it, which if anything distracts him from ENJOYING the simplicity of it. I want someone to logically justify using the mental energy we have on spirituality and astrology.

In the end of all my spiritual research and meditation... for this to be the conclusion for me to come to is both freeing, and depressing. Wasted energy, and theres no going back... But this conclusion is the ONLY honest, logical one I can think of.

I wrote that a few months ago when I was still in that loop. Fucking corny isn't it? LOL... I'm embarrassed of it.

Ha... At least if it were the matrix I could download all the skills I just mentioned into my head and have the best of both worlds.

You choose how to use and what to do with any knowledge that you acquire, astrology is no different. So you allowed a hobby to get out of hand and it turned into an addiction. If you came to the conclusion that there's nothing beneficial in learning astrology, if it really stops you from living a happy life, find the willpower to let it go. Complaining won't do any good. It's not going to be easy as with any addiction, it's not like you can erase it from your memory, but it's possible to become indifferent to it.

The reason I type so many comments is because I think of things after I press enter. Its the way my brain works. Sorry if its annoying I guess? Lol. So far everyone but theatrum has had only sarcastic responses, so how do I take that into consideration?

I see, thats why I was confused because there is nowhere that I actually say I get upset when people say I'm sweet so there is no way I could have interpreted it that way. Miscommunication. I am just defensive because a lot of people like to condescend on here and I will challenge each one. If someone is going to talk down to me, they better be able to back it up.

Ahh yes well my writing style is a bit confusing in your defense. No clear direction really... Trying to improve that. I must say in the end this random thread has paid off as I have learned I am a bit self absorbed these days, and I started to connect it to very prominent issues in my social life and now am taking steps to improve it. First step is to end this conversation about myself. So I thank all of you for the responses! And P-angel, while I doubt your goal was to give me a wake up call, I thank you.

I know exactly what you mean. I got into astrology only a few months ago and I'm already thinking that I might have been better off not knowing anything about it. I also obsess over pisces and Scorpio, (probably because I live with a pisces and a Scorpio) and I devote way too much time to thinking about our interactions with each other and how our charts and the current placements are affecting us. I'm pretty much useless at this point.

blunttrauma find a sport and some hobbies its the only escape!!! Started muay thai a few days ago and I am obsessing over that now instead! It's nice 🙂
