It is known that the U.S. cannot inevitably maintain its dominance forever. Perhaps militarily, but not economically. They astoundingly overtook the British, so who will take the risk of challenging the status quo in years to come?
Consider the annual economic growth rates of China, in light of the partial recovery from the Asian Financial Crisis. Also, the percieved combined threat of the BRIC nations.
This is not a question of whether or not it will occur, but when? Make your predictions, and be careful not to underestimate.
i know our military fleets are rather malnourished at the moment, but our economy is quite on par with the states, and there is no where to go but up..*so who knows, may someday the 2nd largest country in the world may have to lead the way.. 😉
..but then again, i'd much rather live in a world of peaceful, intelligent, tolerant people.
""I think at the end of the day, your average person in the world doesn't give a rats ass about being competitive,...""
Nonsense.
What's more, the government and its people are not always of the same mind. I am thinking of the resistance against diplomatic relations b/w the Russia and China stemming from anti-Chinese sentiments among citizens.
"I think at the end of the day, your average person in the world doesn't give a rats ass about being competitive, they have a hard enough time just making a living."
i so agree with this statement..'i really don't care who's number 1, or who isn't. Countries and nations should just grow up, be the best they can be, get along and call it a day. The average person has enough on their mind.'
It's pretty forseeable- who has the power to potentially overturn the tables. But we should ask ourselves not only who holds the power, but who has the motivation?
Let's talk politics.
