I've been diagnosed with disassociative behavior when I was younger. It only affects me when I get to a "point" when I am very upset and mad. It happened to me 3-4 times in my lifetime (from the ages of 16-22), and each time it was only when I became enraged. I haven't had one in more than 10 years, but that is because I don't bottle up issues anymore, and let them explode. My habit of doing so, contributed to an episode. It's scary when it happens.

Mine gets triggered by situations that remind me of past abuse I think

Had a roommate that was a severe alcoholic who had dissociative identity disorder. He was abnormal, a virgin who couldn't drive and was pushing 30 years old, and wrote in a diary about his dead grandmother and cried and broke stuff in his room. He vomited loudly in the bathroom every night from the drinking.

He stole my alcohol that I had at home for pre-gaming with my friends, dirty panties that were in my clothes hamper, makeup, and lied about it yet I found it all later in his belongings. He was fucked up so I didn't even try to confront him, I chose my battles wisely. I think there was definitely some sexual abuse there in his past, based on his feelings about and relationship with his grandmother. Of course he didn't tell me any of this before we moved in together, so it was .... just ever so pleasant finding all this out. His episodes were scary. I never had another roommate again!

Wow creepy sounds like you were lucky you made it out safe. Mine was also triggered by a bad roomie situation. You truly do not know ppl til you live w them.

That sounds kind of cool

Like your dead inside?
Mine was amnesiac during a particular event, but for me only occurred when I got into a physical altercation and it didn't happen every time I got into a fight. It all varies from person to person, but "dead" inside isn't quite the best way to describe it. Some people have out of body experiences, and stuff like that.

Example, when I had one of my episodes, it was when I was 17, and was with a girl that I perceived as my bestfriend. Long story short, she slept with my then boyfriend, and when I went to her house to forgive her because she was "like a sister" to me, and her response was to tell me she was only friends with me to sleep with him, it triggered an episode. I don't remember getting into the physical altercation, and only know what happened through outside witnesses. She wound up with a broken jaw, and about 3 people had to physically pull me off of her. I went into full attack mode, and had no control over myself. My friends at the time said I had this crazy look on my face. I don't remember any of this, and honestly feel really bad at how much damage I did to her. Quite honestly, I should thank her parents for not pursuing charges, cause I probably should have been.

Which is why, I hate having one.
