It worked for me and my Aqua ex. 7mos in different countries + 2 months LD but in the same country.

It works if there is a deadline aka it's only a temporary distance. There has to be a point in the future when both come back together or else it feels pretty futile.

There are always ups and downs and it requires trust. But I don't think it was that bad even with skype at the time! But he called me every day so the constant contact made it easier.

yes...it should be a temporary thing.

Distance doesn't ruin relationships - doubts do.

I could not have stated this better myself. As long as there is a timetable in place, along with a balance of trust and love, there is cause to believe that such an arrangement can work. Without those elements, it is easy to see why there would be a strain. I think part of the reason people have issues with the thought of long distance relationships stems from a lack of self-restraint. Most of us live in societies where instant self-gratification is glorified (e.g. Fast food, lose weight quick schemes, etc.)... No one has the fortitude necessary to be patient anymore. When my grandfather enlisted in WWII, my grandmother remained faithful without a timetable or guarantee that he would even come back alive, and there are many other stories from that era and others where people were committed and resisted stepping out on each other (that is not to say people did not do this - there were plenty) and that was with far less technology at their disposal to keep in touch than we have now. It is all a matter perspective, resolve, and how much one values the relationship.

If you are talking about some gamers meeting over a game and doing LDR it doesn't work. If it does it's like less than a 1% chance. I don't care how many people are like "Oh mine is working" yeah just wait.

Other people who have known each other, moved away, still talk, yes its plausible. I feel that people who are in an LDR it might work if you already had a foundation set. It takes a certain type of person to continue an LDR and not many can do it.

But I think people who meet especially over MMO's or some kind of gaming it ends up a disaster.

I agree with you.

I wouldn't want to do it. I want my man with me where I can touch him, kiss him, be held by him...

1.Why the hell would one think this a long distance relationship would work?

2.Why would someone think its working and ignore the fact that the other is probably banging someone close by...Why?

I'm sure the percentage of a failing relationship is higher than a successful one

agreed! However, LDR's are like FWB's...they will fuck you when they can.

I don't care how much technology you have.

Unless I knew him and had a relationship with him previously, I would wonder how many LDRs this man was in. Like a sailor, does he have one in each harbor? One on the west coast, the east code, midwestern, southern, northern?
