Oh my god I fucked up

Okay its a long story and it probably goes back to my pile of fuck ups and its worrying but this is one of the few major events that might shape my life and I don't know what to fucking do.

Basically, backstory: Over the course of 1 week, starting last Wednesday, I missed school because I was too tired and had a fucked up sleeping schedule, as I sleep really late now that I live alone. Okay, and my mom found out eventually, yelled at me, and told me not to do it again.

Then a second time happened yesterday, although I still managed to weave a lie saying that I have a free period in school and thus I woke up late, and my mom's already getting pissy over this. So basically I overslept for 15 mins after school starts, and asked someone to pick me up.

THEN THE WORST THING HAPPENED TODAY.

So the night before that, I requested a company to install internet in my home as I don't have internet and only use data, my mom urged me to sleep early. I ended up sleeping a lot late, and while I did set alarms waking up at 7 to get ready, I decided to sleep again as my mind completely forgot about the whole thing. Fast forward to 12 pm noon, I turned on my phone as I set it to silent and turned off the internet, and I realized I had a bunch of messages, all from my parents, and apparently even my neighbour tried coming up and pressed the doorbell, but no one came.

Needless to say, I literally fucked up.

So over the next 2.5 hours, it consists of my parents yelling at me, then cutting the call, and yelling me a bit more. My dad didn't know this until my mom told him, and he showed the scariest kind of quiet rage, where he acted and spoke quietly but it was all radical suggestions and basically wanted me to be placed in a difficult position.

So in the end, I have a few choices:

1) Go back to my home country (definitely a NO)

2) Go back to the boarding school by coughing up a buttload of money and have my phone and keys confiscated (Ouch I guess...)

3) Stay in home and continue living in home but I have to smash my phone and even laptop (dafuq dad?)

Yeah... What do I do? My parents seem really adamant and I'm scared shitless already from what's about to happen.

To add onto that, my mom told me that I have to get an email ready to sent to school by today about how I'm gonna live in the boarding school again, and get ready to pack up stuff.

Dad also said that him and my mom are really running low on patience over my performance and they are disappointed...

They are going to start hitting you with the "he has problems with authority" labels in school. Be prepared.

My parents? But they don't even know how to type in English and plus they didn't know I was struggling with schoolwork so...

Rather disgusting, not that my peers are doing much better but:

Cs, Ds and Es are dominant mostly, due to me not being able to catch the "rhythm" of how to write a proper essay. Time limits are also an issue, and procrastination. It felt like my morale towards the subject's been dropping.

That's for economics and business studies. Travel and tourism is a lost cause since everyone in my team is literally set to fail anyways, our group project turned out to be a disaster, and I've also been handing work in late. I missed a test on purpose with my parents knowing about it because I have to install boardband and a TV.

Sociology is the only fine subject I'd say. Portuguese is another disaster, as despite the amount I study, its still not enough for me to pass the exam with decent grades (at least a C), thankfully that also doesn't count to my report.

in school. I didn't mean your parents. If you want to beat to the sound of your own drum and wake up past deadlines, it always end up with the school authorities going that route ime.

Obviously try to be more of a team player from now on, it'll make your life easier and it would show you care about others. But I think it's too late to get out of going back to boarding school, now it's just about dealing with it the best you can.

I assume your education is being paid for by your parents? If so, they have every right to be mad because you’re wasting THEIR hard earned money.

Yes and I feel like shit over bad decisions 😢 I mean they are disappointed yes but I dunno anymore, is going back the boarding school and having my phone gone for a month the only and best option here?

Like is there nothing I can do aside from waiting for my doom?

What else did you expect? For nothing to happen? If you demonstrated this type of performance at work you’d be fired, lose your home, car, phone and everything that requires money.

I meant less severe punishments and negotiable conditions with my parents is really what I wish for.

I am seriously getting my shit together after this. And yes I'd be a lot more responsible (I hope) if my wife and children depended on me. But for now I'm really just looking for a way out of this, then amendments can make over time.

I agree, go back to school - which is the most important thing you can be doing right now in your life. You need to "pay the piper" and lose your phone for a month or whatever discipline they dish out. You are at their mercy and you should be there because you know you messed up - but leaving school is not a good option. This will all help you learn that you have to play the game if you want to stay in the game. The month of no phone will go quickly if you throw yourself into gaining new good habits. This is not the end of the world. I know you said you are getting your shit together but you need to prove that to everyone even yourself.

If you’re looking to negotiate, lay out a plan of changes and share it with your parents. Make sure the plan includes a long term fix.

Then ask them if after x amount of time, if you can show that you’re improving and that you have a plan to consistently be successful if they will allow you certain freedoms. You can also include a punishment if you’re unable to maintain your success. This will help you motivate yourself.

There’s no guarantee that they will even negotiate though. But good luck with everything. Just make sure you have someone in the picture (not your parents) who will help you, like I said a mentor or advisor. They will be able to support you and help you devise a plan to help you stay on track. Not only that, you will not feel isolated with your struggles.

I mean I think in my class, everyone either doesn't care about grades or is locked onto this unofficial rivalry and comparison where people try to overtake one another and would do anything to stop you getting there.
