Not everyone will see the same thing.

A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home a boy commented,
—Very stupid. Why aren't they on the donkey—?

Upon hearing that the husband let the wife ride on the donkey and walked beside them. Eventually they came across and old man who commented,
—The husband is the head of the family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot—

Hearing this the wife immediately got down and let the husband ride on the donkey. Further on the way home they met an old lady who commented,
—How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman.??

The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man who commented,
—Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you.??

Hearing that the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey became frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river.

The lesson here is still one I'm trying to get accustomed to.

Jason, most people find it really difficult to live their lives without the approval of others, and in this constantly changing of our natural life-flow for the approval of others .... at fragile places in our lives, on the fragile bridges as your story describes, there's no place to go except to fall, because they never stood on the firm ground of their own convictions.

It doesn't matter of others approve of you ... it matters if you approve of you.

I "get" your tale .. such a wise man you are of such young years 🙂

Depends on WHO is saying it

If your close friends, family & people who truly know you keep picking up on the same thing in you, it's probably there. You may not know it but it's def. there

Plus it's a perception issue too.

You may physically look mean, but yet be the happiest person. But b/c you naturally look mean, most people would automatically perceive you to be a mean person even though you don't feel that way on the inside.

Or the person who fumbles & looks jittery but yet when asked if they're nervous, claim they're not. Body language tells us that they're def. nervous but that person may swear they're not.

You've gotta ask yourself what you're saying or doing that's giving off a certain impression that you are/aren't something...and you'd be surprised at how often we sub-consciously say/do things w/o even realizing it.

So if people are claiming you're in love with someone, ask them what it is exactly that's giving them that impression.

Sometimes what people pick up on us is right & dead on, and sometimes they're wrong. *shoulder shrug*
