Things that annoy me about Christianity

1. The threat of Hell if you don't "accept Jesus as your Lord and savior". People say you should believe and conform just for the reason "what if you're wrong?" Pathetico

2. Every Christian that I pit the "heaven sounds like a horrible time" argument to says "Heaven is whatever you want it to be". A hedonistic paradise? Full of familiar earthly pleasures? I learned in church that you worship God into infinity there, and no one can stand to do that an hr a week.

3. One subtype of Christians are the rural farmer type who use it as social status and for moral posturing. They skip church, love alcohol, don't read the Bible but might have it on display. They have a church community just to gossip. They don't evangelize to me because on sight, they don't want a worthless ugly hoe like me in their Heaven.

4. The other subtype of Christians are of great concern to me, their lives are enveloped in Christianity and the young ones cry to themselves often over the suffering of Jesus and how they are unworthy, and their youth leaders are predatorial with fat faces and full beards. They go to Christian concerts and huge summits to hear some adult screaming at them about how guilty and ashamed they should feel to be sinners. Super inappropriate to say to minors, but also imagine yelling this at some poor kid on the autism spectrum who does not have a manipulative nor sadistic bone in his body, no guilty conscience whatsoever, he just does what he's told and what seems rational. Hoping to avoid others totally. Imagine this kid racking his brain trying to think of a harmful sin he's committed.

5. Not to mention, "You are unworthy and a sinner at birth" yet "Go forth and multiply"

6. There's a third subtype of Christians who are a mix of the first two except they're hipster numales and probably hang around church to pick up naive young "pure" chicks and/or boys

7. Just look at the other two Abrahamic religions. Trifecta of claptrap

8. In Chloe Forero's words, "Anytime anyone leaves me a truly diabolical comment, they have a cross in their bio. If Jesus were here, do you think he would be on TikTok telling me if he looked like me he'd off himself?"

9. They think they're the most oppressed people due to people like me pointing out the above, yet the Romans in their imperialism cemented Christianity as one of the most enduring influential/powerful forces

10. I've heard a preacher tell us that we should tithe even when we're broke because God will ensure our bills will be paid somehow. Not a risk I'd want to take

11. When I brought up the unfair suffering of those living in poverty who have to carry a jug far to drink impure water full of parasites, the Christian I spoke to said it was due to the sins of their ancestors. Evil take

Back when I was in my early 20s and all the boys went to the bar then across the street to the strip club, we would leave the club at like 1am and church people would have like 20 kids on the other side of the street praying on their knees. This was during the middle of winter also, and the temp outside was below freezing. I always felt that was pretty messed up to do to the children.

Yeah I've said it before, Christians are more obsessed with sex than lots of sex workers and socially liberal people. I agree that we should make babies within wedlock, but most to all of the out-of-wedlock pregnancies I've witnessed were Christians of the first type. My club has church ladies who bring us care packages weekly, I'm assuming because they think we're "lost" and underprivileged. Meanwhile the strippers are making $ 950- $ 2.2k a week and are highly accomplished education-wise. One girl has her masters in orchestra and teaches trombone lessons during the day; one girl is pre-med (full scholarship, 30 on ACT), one girl is studying HVAC, and one girl is majoring in Italian Studies and art, learning 4 different languages. Hopeless lives indeed

my Aqua colleague told me she can't divorce her abusive Libra husband who told her that her "very existence is his misery", refused to take her to the hospital when she's in labor with their 3rd child (financial reasons) and raped her in front of their mutual friends during their time in the military

all because

she made a "vow to God to preserve the sanctity of her marriage"

meanwhile, my husband told me (jokingly?) one time that "you're lucky i'm not one of those men who beat their wives."

and i srsly considered divorce for like 2 full minutes

I remember the first time I listened to them, I was thinking

"There's a lot of basic good out there and everything they preach and is written you can gain from all walks of life and learn from people"

It's a very good text on how humans approached situations (fundamental human behavior) and still do, that's it's greatest value imo.

Everything else is just mixed opinions (partial ignorance)

Just don't give funds, geld and spirituality are not a good mix imo. Charity can be tho.

I've lost thousands due to trusting men because I was a pick-me who thought they genuinely know better

I hope aqua can replace him. I'm trying to think of who might be a more loving match and can only come up with scorp men

actually definitely, my good friend is married to an aqua gal (he's a scorpio) she cheated on him 2 years or so ago and he forgave her right away. very proper and loves tf out of her

I still think snobbishness and superiority complex is seeped into the text and culture, compared to the collectivist far Eastern religions. (I disagree with those too, you shouldn't be so ascetic that you adopt dangerous methheads left and right). In fact, the Catholics I've met have been downright sweet compared to Protestants

Yeah I mostly agree. There's a lot of self criticism in the text tho so I really believe in it for that. Self criticism is what keeps us in check. And yes Catholicism is actually way less fanatical because it doesn't permeate daily life and they don't force it on people (anymore) was probably a shit show back in the day tho.

History of protestantism is kinda messed up, Catholicism has been terrible through history too but why create a new church that is just another way of fucked up?. Just read up on Luther, I mean if you think about both sides it makes sense but Luther was on some hidden agenda imo.

That's all dogma. The real thing you see by actions.

All things are of and from god. That means in you too.

Those who preach separation as if you are separate from God, are our for control not Christ teachings.

There is a big error in the one god 'Who has limitless power and goodness' religions.

Just think about it. I'm just a silly girl right? Not even that smart.

And if I had 'limitless power and goodness', I wouldn't create this Squid games world with so much suffering in it-child rape, baby rape, torture, pain, death, wars, hunger, abuse etc. Also think BEFORE PAINKILLERS and morphine please! And before civilization.

I would create a world where my humans lived happily, went to the beach and music festivals and didn't experience more pain than maybe a tiny bruise all their lives. Maybe not even death unless they are bored.

And my animals wouldn't torture and kill and eat each other or their own babies in case they are dying of hunger and thirst.

So I'm sorry but those religions are lying. I really wish there is a cute god though, but it can't be all powerful - if it's the ultimate good.

Why be annoyed by someone's religion? If they want to believe it then it's up to them. I just smile politely at any attempts to convince me and then believe what I want

Yeah this thread was a bitter display of prejudice really

I'm worse with the Christian shaming than any other subgroup because of how I've stereotyped them based on experiences

Thread could be "fat people are mean" or "-insert race- is mean", ill try to stop speaking in this manner

In many parts of the world whole socities are brainwashed to believe it and politicians scam people through religion. People, especially women and kids are abused terribly, even killed off for stupid religious beliefs. If you don't talk about it, this will go on forever.

I'm sure almost everyone here was taught to believe it either by family or school too.

How can you not question something that is supposed to be so important?

I believed in God because I honestly don’t believe I’d be here if I didn’t. I’m not at all a fundamental Christian, I never have been. My family never took us to church or told us to read the Bible. I was blessed to have a grandma who verbally told me stories about Jesus and his boundless compassion at a young age.

I was so in awe over these stories of God that every night I established a routine to pray to God. I felt like there was no one in the world who would understand me better than him. I prayed when I was sad and just wanted comfort, I prayed when I was happy and wanted to show gratitude. Or just talked to him about my day and my frustrations. That helped me establish a strong bond with God throughout the years. When I hit depression as a teen, that was a test of my faith. Because no matter how hard I prayed I felt like my depression wasn’t going away. But I didn’t give up, I kept praying and after a while I felt myself slowly heal. It wasn’t quick, and I still struggle with depression, but I felt in my heart that God helped me get through it.

A lot of ppl will say and have invalidated my belief that God helped me, idk what to say about ppl like that because they seem extremely bitter to me. Because I know if I didn’t have faith in God I wouldn’t have even tried to make it through. So many times I feel like life isn’t worth it, but it’s been my feeling that God loves me and will help me get through things that have made me want to push through. Whether ppl believe he’s fake or not, because I’ve had plenty of ppl tell me my belief in an “imaginary” spirit is delusional.

My faith has also been tested as I’ve gotten older specifically because of other Christians and the Bible. Verses that I don’t agree with. Since I have never read the Bible or been to church I would be considered a fake Christian to Christians. See the thing is, I’m afraid to read the Bible. All my life I have believed Jesus to be a certain way, and I’m afraid the Bible will break that image I have of him, and the way I’ve experienced (or believed to experience) his love and compassion. There was nothing I felt I couldn’t tell him. But politics and division in our world today has weighed on my beliefs.

I’m not sure what to believe, because the Jesus I’ve been praying to does not seem to be the Jesus that I believe a lot of Christians are praying to. I’m quite confused because I’ve felt him help me so much.

Nowadays I unconsciously started straying away from praying because I feel like everything I believed may have been a lie. I don’t know. But it definitely hurts because without God to pray to I feel empty. I really don’t know how ppl do it. How ppl live on earth without a spiritual belief. It’s so hard to get through life and hardships when I feel I have no one to pray to.

I definitely don’t disagree with this post. I’m highly disappointed in Christian people and that is why I don’t think I can ever be a Christian. But I’m not a “non-Christian” either so I’m not so confident that my beliefs are anywhere close to being the truth since it seems I’ve made up my own beliefs, cherry picking what I want to believe and what I don’t want to believe. I also just really wish everyone would stop bringing religion into politics.

"5. Not to mention, "You are unworthy and a sinner at birth" yet "Go forth and multiply""

Aren't all humans born with an inclination to sin? Don't non-Christians commit heinous acts?

Couldn't any group-since all humans naturally multiple by birth-be held to the same standard?

Yet Christians have an entire EVERYTHING directed towards not sinning. And while we can debate what is a sin, I think most people are imbibed with Abrahamic values that we can agree on some major ones.

The ancient Spartans, for example, killed their slaves as part of their military training, and many pagans once sacrificed humans and/or animals.

So i think taking a human universal-tendency to sin- and applying it solely to Christians because they/we talk about it so much, is definitely missing the point of the Gospels.

We all born in sin because we came into this world not knowing who God was. Babies born and if they die they straight up going to heaven but not us as an adult if we still after all these years of our lives don't know who God is yet.

Evil take

I don't like protestants. I have noticed some catholics are becoming more protestant.

Catholicism remembers that Christianity comes from the middle east.. and that Jesus was not white. Mary was not white.

I think of Our Lady as a black woman.

Although I dont like organized religion.

One thing I notice is that christians seem to think atheists are afraid of christianity or something .. they dont seem to realize that we are not vampires and holy water isnt going to set us on fire.

I love looking at crucifixes for example. I love reading the bible. Its a crazy book but i love hymns and all that stuff.

Its all so dark and gothic. Churches looks delightfully satanic to me.

I feel right at home. 🙂
