Idk why but the face floats are my favorites ❤️❤️❤️

Especially that one ^^

Political statements are not exempt from Mardi Gras festivities

Cajun Mardi Gras festivities (AKA Courir de Mardi Gras)

This is in Abalama but since it’s a tiger imma pass it off as LSU 🐅💜💛

Cocodrie 💚💚💚

🤤🤤

Not to be dramatic or anything, but if there’s one food I could only eat for the rest of my life, it would be Cajun seasoned crawfish 🤤🤤

“Mardi Gras is the love of life. It is the harmonic convergence of our food, our music, our creativity, our eccentricity, our neighborhoods, and our joy of living. All at once.”
–Author Chris Rose
Jimmy C. Newman – Louisiana Saturday Night
A Louisiana Saturday night everybody feeling alright
There ain't nothing like a Louisiana Saturday night
If it's one of those nights a night that's happy and wild
If you pole the pirogue you come for a many a mile
If you're singing a song feast on gravy and rice
I know what that is a Louisisana Saturday night
A Louisiana Saturday night everybody feeling alright
There ain't nothing like a Louisiana Saturday night
If it's one of those nights everybody go hog wild
All the pretty girls you see wear a pretty cajun smile
The fiddle and accordian play an old song happy and bright
I know what that is a Louisiana Saturday night
A Louisiana Saturday night everybody feeling alright
There ain't nothing like a Louisiana Saturday night
We make like a Mardi Gras dance till broad daylight
Bet all our money then on a dog or chicken fight
The day after Friday next week everything'll be alright
Cause we're gonna have us another Louisiana Saturday night
A Louisiana Saturday night everybody feeling alright
There ain't nothing like a Louisiana Saturday night
This song cracks me up 😂😂
Johnny Horton – The Battle of New Orleans
In 1814, we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip'.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in a town in New Orleans.
We fired our guns and the British kept a-coming
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more, and they began to running,
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
We looked down the river and we see'd the British come
and there musta' been a hundred of 'em beating on the drum.
They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring
We stood beside our cotton bales and didn't say a thing.
We fired our guns, and the British kept a-coming
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to running,
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
Ole Hickory said we could take 'em by surprise
If we didn't fire our muskets 'till we look 'em in the eyes.
We held our fire 'til we seen their faces swell
Then we opened up our squirrel guns and really gave 'em... Well..
We fired our guns, and the British kept a-coming
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to running,
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
Well they ran through the briars, and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit wouldn't go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
We fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind,
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.
We fired our guns and the British kept a-coming
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to running,
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
Well they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit wouldn't go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
hup, two, three, four.
sound, off, three, four.
hup, two, three, four.
This one is definitely my favorite song ❤️❤️
Jimmy C. Newman – Alligator Man
Mosquitos buzzin' round my head Spanish moss for my bed
There is seldom seen dried land cause I'm an Alligator man
I hunt the gator all night long sell his hiding then I'm gone
I see the belles from bayou shanty love this Alligator man
This bayou country is my home and from this place I'll never roam
For I'm the leader of the clan oh I'm the Alligator man
When I bring my hides to town all the people gather round
They just want to shake the hand of the top gator man
Some people search their world for fame but fightin' gators is my game
And the scars on my hand cause I'm an Alligator man
Top gator man until I die when I marry by and by
A pretty belle from the bayou shant we'll raise a little gator man

Get down on your knees (not what you think...) and PRAY FOR FIRGIVENESS!

It ain’t the number of Super Bowl wins that counts

It’s the spirit ⚜️⚜️

Shout out to @Nightcap- for reminding me to throw this in here 😛

Want some beads?

Some of y’all may have figured I had never been to a Mardi Gras parade [yeah, despite living in Louisiana] since I was always working. But this year I made it a point to attend one so this past weekend my boyfriend and I attended the Krewe of Gemini parade in Shreveport.
These are all the beads we kept (+ a couple cups we got):

And then here is a handful of the floats.
This was the opening float, Queen Gemini the 3rd:
