General David Petraeus, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency has resigned from his post for reasons
of Marital Infidelity.
IF a spouse cannot trust her husband (or his wife), how can the government trust the same?
Amazing how marital infidelity can destroy a nation.

HOWEVER, On the other hand, there could be more to this now breaking story than meets the eye.
It could well be that he is being thrown under the bus or, forced to resign and the "infidelity" is NOT
marital infidelity but political infidelity: The September assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Everybody is throwing everybody under the bus.
The Bus Driver is having a good time, or is he?

Petraeus was actually born on November, 7th, 1952. Go figure.

Not so fast. I had security clearance in the Navy (most of the military has some level of clearance for that matter), and affairs (among a considerable list of other offenses) are enough to cost you your security clearance ON THE SPOT. The reason being, it leaves you open for blackmail and therefore nullifies your integrity.

In the grand scheme of things, Benghazi is a hiccup in comparison to the treetrunk ups made during Bush's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or in Beirut under Reagan, or Operation Eagle Claw in Iran with Carter. Truth be told, the military and the various intelligence agencies fuck up constantly. The reason why Benghazi was inflated to these proportions is because of the election. That being said, any administration holds their staff accountable for failures in the chain of command. Again, the only time I didn't see this happen was with Rumsfeld in the previous administration. They pushed him out in late 2006 after the Republicans took an ass kicking in the Congressional elections...more politics than accountability there.

Petraeus resigns after affair with biographer turned up in FBI probe, Fox News confirms

Published November 09, 2012

CIA Director David Petraeus resigned Friday after admitting to an extramarital affair -- an affair with his biographer that was revealed over the course of an FBI investigation, Fox News has learned.

I'm hardly a fan of Fox News, but this is what I figured. FBI probe means they were updating his security clearance and were doing a routine investigation of him. By law, a Top Secret clearance has to be renewed every 5 years. I should rephrase myself a bit earlier. You can have a lot of skeletons in your closet and keep your clearance, BUT you have to report it during your investigation AND show that you're doing something to improve the situation. What happened here is that he didn't come clean about it and that shows a lack of integrity. There are a crap load of DCID (Director Centeral Intelligence Directives) which have been unclassified and are floating around on the net. Check it for yourselves. Benghazi might not have helped, but it wasn't the factor here.

Petraeus was in the service for what—? 38 years— He would've known better.
I sometimes think he may have wanted it to happen.
But... you know what they say "Loose Lips Sink Great Ships" -

You do give one some food for thought with the whole political infidelity question. But infidelity to whom, exactly? Their country? Their party? Themselves?

There's a reason elected officials went from being called "statesmen" to "politicians". They tend to identify more with the political machine than either the states or the men they claim to represent, IMO.

This mind set of pandering to the highest bidder seems rampant in most so called "leaders" elected nowadays.

Food for thought, is my ambition in life. - Life is a work of art, full of details, large and small.
You take what you read with a grain of salt, then test it's validity.
The fact of the matter is, the United States isn't the innocent princess our leaders would like for
us to believe. But it's not really about the US, but something much larger, deeper.
The US is going to fall. It's not a matter of IF, but when.
All we can do is to do the best we can each day.
IF the American people wise up and can raise a smart and moral generation, it may last a little longer, but I don't see
that happening. The powers that be are running out of time. They must move on from the experiment to their destiny.
The time to do this can begin the transition can be anytime. They have only a short while.
50 years at the most, perhaps— Unless big things happen and the way things are, big things are more likely.
