Group of British 'nuns' arrested in Crete

Seventeen British holidaymakers have appeared in a Greek court after being arrested for wearing nun outfits.

The men - who were also wearing women's lingerie - spent a night in police cells in Crete wearing their outfits after being held for "scandal and misrepresentation of a costume or uniform".

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said it was understood charges were dropped against the group after they appeared before a prosecutor.

The tourists, ranging in ages from late teens to "about 60", were led into the courtroom still dressed in their nun costumes to face charges of causing a scandal by provocative acts and misrepresenting a uniform.

They had been in police custody since their arrest in the early hours of Sunday in the seaside holiday town of Malia.

The British Embassy said the prosecutor dropped all charges against the men and all 17 were released.

i love this nuns story. you see them all at malaga airport - groups arriving for stag and hen weekends in various costumes and generally they're up for some harmless fun in the sun. it's the brits that wear football shirts you have to be wary of or anyone with a scouse accent LOL.

I know people always bitch about American and British teens being wild in other countries and drinking a lot but come on for a 60 year old to do it? Pathetic LOL.

LOL!!! i think it's hilarious!!! so what if one of them is 60!! sure, if he made a point of dressing in this manner on a daily basis, that would be a problem but he was on his holidays and english people (and americans probably) - some of them go a little craaaaaaaaazy when they're not in their own country. there's a real sense of 'these people are never gonna see me again'. yay! i hope i'm doing embarrassing stuff like that when i'm 60.
