It was clear why Barack Obama's campaign barred television crews from a Beverly Hills mansion at twilight Tuesday as the Democratic presidential nominee mingled with movie stars on a giant terrace overlooking Los Angeles.

The cocktail reception was part of Obama's biggest night of Hollywood fundraising so far, an evening capped with a live performance by Barbra Streisand at the Regent Beverly Wilshire.

But it came fraught with risk. As if on cue, John McCain used the Illinois senator's lucrative detour from battleground states to Beverly Hills to mock Obama's professed solidarity with working people "just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends."

"Let me tell you, my friends, there's no place I'd rather be than right here with the working men and women of Ohio," McCain told cheering supporters in Vienna, Ohio, with running mate Sarah Palin at his side.

I suppose I just don't view things the same way as everybody else. To me, the world has gone to hell already, because of valuating lies.

Obama's fundraising campaign is the very, very successful. So, it should be pretty clear that not allowing press was his way of making these people feel comfortable. It isn't an issue of elitism so much as financial finesse. He knows how to treat his clients.

AS, I don't understand why you seem to think that everyone who likes Obama is following a trend. Yeah, there are people who like him because it's somehow considered cool, but there are many others who support him because they agree with the majority of his policies and would like to see some change in the U.S. rather than sticking to the policies that have made it into a shithole.

For me, this election is so simple. Do we stick with the policies that have clearly failed, or do we try something else? At minimum, it's choosing the lesser of two evils. People can attack Obama's character until they're blue in the face, but at the end of the day, McCain and his support of the Bush admin is still obsolete.
