I see this all the time with scorp/taur couples not all but a lot. Scorpio is all freaky and Taurus cares so much they put up with emotional drama llama or the scorpions past issues that cause them to be spastic. I'd say don't do it. Every time you tell a Scorpio a boundary it makes them more attracted to you in my experience. If it makes them more unstable than its because they're an unstable person and they'll eventually drain the life outta you if you stick around.

my pisces influence comes to me by way of houses, not planets and ironically, i do the same thing (with my sag bro). we used to fight all the time and at some point, i grew up and recognized that i can choose not to engage. i'm not sure if that was my inner bull or fishy that wizened up.
with that said, i dunno about the smile and nod 😛 for me, it's more of a smirk and a blank stare.
i'm half reading this thread, but i kinda do agree that you may need to change the manner in which you create your boundary. it would seem as if the way you're going about it isn't working and i wouldn't put it past a scorpio to continue testing the limits of your boundaries for the sheer hell of it or as you said, he may do it in an attempt to satisfy his sick emo needs.
the higher you build, the more he has to up his game too. the more mentally stable you become, the more irrational and cuckoo he'll need to be to breakdown your facade and pull out your emotion/anger.
in my short dealings with a scorp, what i couldn't deal with was his neediness and emo-usery, but what REALLY got me was that i found myself yelling a lot and that is soooo not in my nature. it actually fucked with me a bit because in the course of arguing i found myself wondering, "why are you yelling?" sure, that could've been due to the fact that we were talking simultaneously and he was getting off on contradicting me, but yeah, peace and harmony. whether it's my fishies or my bull, i'd much rather be on these two planes and i just couldn't get there with this particular scorp.
with that said, i have a lot of fire in me, so eh, maybe you're less firey, so smiling and nodding truly are the best way for you to handle things.

I don't disagree that Sun signs influence a chart substantially. But you have to admit that everything else in a chart can have a major influence on how the Sun is expressed. Sure, there archetypes you can't get away from. But, say, a Leo with a Pisces Moon, for instance, with some lousy water placements as well as some unflattering planetary aspects can appear almost totally like a declawed Leo.
And you're right, Sun signs will *always* be expressed, but differently, and in ways that are still attributable to that sun sign. You'll see, for instance, a declawed Leo behaving and acting out as a declawed Leo. It'll be a Leo response, but once that is coming from lousy placements. So they really won't seem like a *typical* Leo.
Yes, Scorps are at their core very cagey and cunning. No doubt about it. But the way R1g plays that and the way Elle play it are quite different.
again, one slashes your tires, the other one busts the windows out your car. each has a different threshhold, but are all innately insane.
the more that one learns about sun signs, the more that one learns to identify individuals by their sign. it'd be no different than being able to guess a person MBTI after studying the various types.
thus, if you've ever said, oooh, i just knew you were a "insert sign here," you weren't talking about the person's uranus. you weren't going off of their ascendant. 9 times out of 10 you were talking about their sun. now if you were wrong, chances are, yes, you may indeed have seen their uranus...in stellium, but the notion that i'm going to sit here and have this particular discussion would be akin to your proposing that all Chinese people don't look alike and white folks can't dance.
the reality is, they do and they can't...until you know better and that's when they don't and they still can't.
