so I'm going to the uk for my summer vacation for about two weeks.. thinking of spending a week in the uk then going to spain or portugal for another week.. my friend lives near london, about an hour drive away from the city..
I've been to london before and still am going to hit the city lol but now I want to see other parts of the country.. my friend and I are thinking of going, driving to wales.. ireland.. I think I could start researching for places on the net, but before that I would like to hear from people who live over there or know much about locals as in which places are recommendable..🙂 as I'm city born and have lived or traveled to a few big cosmopolitan cities abroad, cities don't do much for me as they used to be..I'm more into hidden gem like places..like only locals know.. I could ask my friend for recommendations but then he's busy with his work and I'm already much grateful that he's taking two week breaks off to travel, drive for me..🙂 so I want to do this part by myself.. after all he'll have to plan on driving trip in the end as he's going to be the driver lol.. also he wants me to pick places..
I'd like to go to cotswolds..heard this place is nice and my friend said so himself..🙂 I'd like to see some old castles and nice sceneries, too..
so what are good places to start, where should I start to look for..?
Go to stonehenge!!!! 🙂 Some may say its just random rock placings, but its so much more than that, and its such a powerful, mesmerizing thing to see in person! 🙂
Go to oxford and cambridge! they are beautiful places and only a bus away from london. In oxford there is a small place called Vaults and Garden where you can have the traditional afternoon tea, is suuuper cheap compared with london prices and the tea and scons were AMAZING.
Go to my home town in Laugharne, wales, Castles, quaint little streets, traditional pubs, the estuary with beautiful walks and Dylan Thomas's famous work was written here, its his 100th birthday too so there is lots going on.
thank you all for all those great recommendations!! I wrote them down and talked about those places with my friend 🙂
..still!
we need more locations lol lol
we're planning to drive around in the uk for a week, then fly in to either spain or portugal.. so along with nice places in the uk, if you happen to know interesting spots in either spain or portugal..please share them here..🙂
Barcelona is a party town and full on, it's more expensive than most other areas but well worth a visit. Madrid is also another beautiful place to visit, you can go to the bullfights when you are there and definitely take up on a Tapa/Bar crawl to get a real feel of the place??_.just don't travel the next day! If you get to Alicante, make a bee line for Benidorm. Fantastic shopping Tapa's and topless sunbathing.
