Practicality Versus Everything Else

So it's been on my mind for some months, am I more Capricorn or Virgo.

I find myself choosing practicality over more typical "Virgo" things or "perceived Virgo" things.

The following are my examples.

Sure it's nice to have your bed "made" on mornings, but how practical is it?
To me it's a waste of time. It's not like someone is going to hire you based on if you make up your bed or not... and if it's supposed to be attractive to other people, then they are superficial and need to get the hell out.

Sure I would like to bathe, 6 or more times a day, but how practical is that?
It's certainly not green either. So long as you don't have an offensive smell or some kind of nastiness on your body, single to dual baths daily are fine.

Sure it's nice to have freshly done laundry, but how practical is it to iron a cotton shirt every week or worse day?
Not very practical at all.

Just thought I would throw this out there to see how other Virgos justify their overly cleanthly behaviour.

Yeah, I stopped making my bed once I moved out of my house and started going to college. When I no longer had the time to do such a thing, I did begin to realize that it was useless to make my bed every morning. I also stopped ironing after a while considering no one noticed that my clothes had a wrinkle or two. I still shower once a day, only because my skin does get a bit oily in certain places, but on certain nights, say I come back late from a party, from being out, ect, I just hop into bed; I mean, I'm drunk and exhausted, I'm not making it to the shower. Speaking of clothes, I realized it wasn't very pratical to toss something in the laundry just because I wore it for one day. Wearing one pair of jeans turned into wearing a pair two or three times in the week, but with different shirts. Saves on clothes piling up and detergent.

Being in college, you have to learn how to be efficient, so that does mean throwing out some of those habits that I grew up with.

lol. just because cleaning is a virgo ideal doesn't mean that all virgos do a lot of cleaning. you'll want to have your own sense of order, and you'd probably feel uncomfortable having someone over to see the reality behind the ideal of order you project, but that doesn't mean everything has to be super clean and perfect. virgos will almost always choose practical over impractical (like making or not making the bed). usually if a virgo goes all clean-freak (esp the males), it's because other parts of his life are too chaotic, and this is what he can control. if the rest of your life is looking pretty good, you probably won't feel very compelled to clean much. you'll avoid making a mess in the first place, though.

and showering 6 times a day? do you realize that if you did that, your skin would probably dry out and crack and you'd develop open wounds. it's pretty disgusting what happens to people who bathe too much. especially if they scrub hard or use antibacterial soaps and stuff. ouch. now, just standing under the flowing water is different, but who does that?

please brush and floss though. i don't know why so many virgo guys i've known have had issues with this. tartar isn't sexy. who wants to kiss that?

you sound more like a Gemini, or my self. i hate making the bed. as you say, it's not practical. I love showers, but I don't need 6 during the span of 12 hours. As long as my towels are clean, I don't care if they smell like flowers or perfume; just so they do the job.

Honestly, I think the paradigm of Virgo's being obsessed with neatness, order and cleanliness every minute of their lives is complete horse hockey. Virgos are still human beings.
And all humans on some scale live a pragmatic world. If you don't, you won't get anything accomplished.

Hmm... the party thing, I usually just knockout on the couch. I dislike going on my bed, without bathing right before. Guess that's the Virgo in me.

Preach it sista!

I usually go all clean freak, for no apparent reason.
There is rarely "chaos" in my life, Thank God 🙂
