Do you believe in them, and if so, what would be your definition of them? What particular traits and qualities do you envision your soul mate or perfect mate having?

Ah HA Soulmate! That's the ultimate goal one must have in building relationship. For me every close relationshp in this world is meaningless unless the souls dont merge. For me soul means emotions, aesthetics, and spiritualism. So a soulmate in that sense means the one who can enhance all these three in you. I somewhat second what sweet-P has defined.A soulmate raises a toast to everthing that is a cause of celebration in you without trying to dominate or control. At the same time firmly and gently protecting your soul from being tarnished by harshness of this world and at the same time helping you to be strong and stand up to the harshness of the world.
OOF... I hope I can make you'll understand. I am going into a trance writng this.

All right (laughing). For some reason, I'm feeling extremely evasive being asked that question, but I'm going to ignore that feeling and try to answer. . .honestly. Shunning practicality for the moment; and totally from my perspective . . .ommm, I . . .I need to change the CD, Hope's Fall isn't the right mood to try and impart this (laughing).

All right. Ommmm . . .essentially Spring. I mean every moment seeming like perpetual rainbows and butterflies. If she was water, I'd drown willingly. Be her fire, I'd scorch. She'd evoke in me that which can't be defined by thought or expressed in words. To lay together with our armor on the floor and escape time for hours, being perfectly content as one. To see all she is and recognize it's all I need. To appreciate and in return be appreciated for just being. To think of her would be an earth flooded in roses. To see her euphoria, with her touch being thunder and ice. She'd feel like Friday nights and Sunday mornings. To watch her sleep; finding assurance in the way life, without fail, raises and crashes her chest like ocean waves; to hold her and fall asleep to the melody of her heartbeat, feeling perfectly at peace. Her absence decay. She'd feel like Jamiroquai's "Spend a Lifetime" and Pat Metheny's "End of the World" at the same time. To fall from the largest tower in utter delight and care nothing about the earth below.

God, that is embarrassing to write (laughing). Impractical as hell, but it reaches to grasp an unreachable feeling. There she is Sharma. Go ahead, call me a woman (laughing).

wow - I am awestruck

This sounds almost too ridiculous to be true ? But I wish I were making it up ? talking about soul mates can also be one of the most painful topics ?
I write this with tears, because think I met my soul mate and I hope that for some magic that we will meet again in an after life ?
Before you meet, they taste the same food you taste, they listen to the same music you listen to, and they sing the same songs you sing then one day you meet?
Do you know what its like to have someone you can look into their eyes and you just know??your forces are so aligned ? that for instance you can tell when they are just about to call you and they do? it becomes almost frighteningly uncanny
You share feelings, emotions, love, music, food, secret thoughts ? there is no judgement, no inhibitions... Just feelings? just comfort of a perfect fitting... You touch and both hearts beat faster, you kiss and your lips lock perfectly ?
You share intellect ? you challenge each other yet retreat with respect for the other... You share comfortable silence and stolen kisses?
this is not someone you meet for a fling, or met once on a business trip, or an weekly event, not a monthly event, but you share this feeling over a period of a time. Yet every time before we meet, we get nervous, like teenagers meeting secretly in the dark outside the school dance hall, yet once we are together, we feel like we have known each other a lifetime
Then, without a trace, a word of good bye, a promise of an afterlife together? they disappear, leaving a only traces of their scent in your sweater and faded pictures of their smiles in your dreams?

I am so sorry for whatever has happened with you and your special soulmate - I can tell that he has truly touched your heart in a way that only he could, leaving you with unforgetable memories that will never fade but instead bringing lasting smiles while warming your heart.

What a gift...I have not experienced those feelings as of yet but I hope that someday I too will be able to write about my "soulmate." As for now, I will read what others have experiened.
