There's a one in three chance of guessing. I don't think much emphasis is placed on the mercury simply because it is a communication style rather than the meaning behind words, I would say moon plays a bigger part in verbal communication. That's my opinion.

I'm Taurus mercury and usually have good communication with earth signs, but great banter with fire signs which is my sun. I've found caps to be most difficult in earth and Leo in fire. In water Pisces easiest, with cancer and Scorpio being about equal.

i can even LIKE the sag in question but no matter what they say, how pleasant they say it... i honest to god have no idea what they're talking about. like there's this shroud surrounding everything they're saying.

with other virgos, i get this sense that they NEVER really say anything really. nothing of real substance about themselves. they like to leave crumbs and i always expect this about them. but it's frustrating when you're trying to know them.

i have this easy understanding with scorpio moons but the sun feels different, more volatile. scorpio suns and i can LIKE each other but they make me uncomfortable too. and deeply misunderstood.

I think it’s the same like regular placements. Fire/Air and Earth/Water.

My fire Sagittarius mercury works well with Air and Aries mercury.

My mercury is direct, straight forward and blunt. So far Aquarius, Capricorn ,Libra and Aries mercuries are fine with how I talk. They think it’s hilarious.

Gemini is ok but they talk a lot and get their feelings hurt that I’m not as chatty. I don’t say nice enough things to a Leo mercury often enough.

Edited to include Capricorn mercury cause they are tough with words and understanding as well.

With regards communication I've found most couples share a similar sense of humour; especially if it is dry or dark as they can be alienating to the uninitiated.

of course i'm mercury dominant and it's virgo. my 2nd dominant is neptune.

i like the sense of humor from the mixture of leo/virgo.

silly, stupid, harmless jokes that seem to come from nowhere and go refreshingly nowhere at all. performance-y, relying more on theatrics than actual substance as if it's a character like the faux narc with the false bravado.

My brother is virgo sun Leo moon his humour is incredibly mean, but it makes me laugh because it is so brutal.

i don't like Libra in general which is a terrible thing to admit to when you just wanna be left alone to live a peaceful life. they start out so clever then it deteriorates into pretentious, status-validation. then outright social sabotage.

there are Virgo/Leo jokes that poke fun at somebody's expense but since they always sound like they're joking, can't help but laugh.

Think of it as bratty mischievous behaviour like a school child. They are often just trying to get a rise. When met with real aggression female sags I know back down. A man I know who is a sag has a really bad temper, but he isn't a nasty person.

i noticed that most people i get into fights with in insurance are Sags. they are stubborn, they don't listen, they don't want to follow instructions. they want what they want and they want it now. the other fire suns are the same but nobody fights for it more than Sag.

and they really incite my temper more than any other sign probably coz i always have disgust mixed in.

nothing glues in prejudice like disgust.

My humour really isn't anything like Aries which I see Eddie Murphy as being the stereotypical Aries humour, knockabout, witty, slightly goofy and a bit sort of arrogant in a nice way. I'm more like Capricorn, Virgo and Scorpio in my style .

just really creative to make jokes out of nothing the way Leo does. it doesn't have to come from any deep, painful place. they conjure it out of thin air. and it's just lighthearted to me coz it's more a performance than anything else. but i like it even better when there's a buildup and then it goes nowhere or completely somewhere else haha.

I have a similar thing with Libras at work I tell them good advice and they do the opposite and fuck it up.

With sags All will do their own thing and don't like orders, but they are much more detached than other fire signs. If you can I would look at their moon.

i think i have issues w/ fixed mercuries. they dont let you talk. i’ll start to say something & they literally just talk over me until i stop & give them space. aqua merc is the hardest for me. leo would be easiest for me.

water mercs are dumb af... make no sense & always read into everything. i literally can not stand a pisces mercury, on anyone.

i dont have too many ppl in my circle w/ earthy mercuries... my housemate has a virgo merc & he is so condescending.

i get along best w/ gem & aries merc.

other sag mercuries are like a test of who can talk the loudest & longest. i cant stand it. ive seen myself do it & i hate it.

leo merc can be funny but when mixed in with some water, always seemingly searching for some injury to their ego.

water mercs to me are like sag mercs, completely beyond my understanding. sometimes things don't really mean anything, pointless to read into it. or misinterprets your light tone.

virgo and condescension go together like peanut butter and jelly. people need to get used to that.

So far what I've read is a Virgo with a Leo moon and libra merc with scorp rising are the best.

My Mercury is 00 degrees of Taurus conjuncting my ascendant so I can communicate with anyone, I think. Scorp Merc and Libra Merc are the hardest for me. I love Pisces Mercs. I could listen to them for the rest of my life, no problem.

I'm a water Mercury, Cancer. lol I don't think it makes me dumb, but my emotions do sometimes temporarily override my logical mind. I haven't noticed much of a Mercury pattern with my friends. My best friend has Taurus sun and Mercury.

my experience w/ cancer mercury - passive aggressive af.

cancer is also in my top 3 least fave signs... so, it’s difficult for me in general.

Well I'm mercury dominant. All I can say is that it's rather difficult to communicate on my level sometimes I myself find it difficult. Like how can any mercury signs be compatible with someone that just wants to spend quality time alone. My very own fiance doesn't understand me.

And fire signs can forget it. They hard for me to communicate with. They energy rub me the wrong way.

In case anybody gets confused here. Don't let my Jupiter username fool ya. There is nothing jupitarian about me.

My favorite mercury is Leo. Which is weird since mine is Capicorn. But I've communicated best with them. Than, other cap merc and kind of Taurus.

Pisces merc is completely a terrible placement, I agree. Lives in la la land and zero structure to anything they say.

Does anyone ever dissect aspects here? It doesn’t seem so. Just because you are not focusing on just Sun sign does not mean you are digging deep. You can move to mercury, mars, even Saturn.. if you aren’t looking at houses of the planet and ASPECTS you’re only grasping a superficial view of the planet. 🤷🏾‍♂️ The OP seems to be inquisitive but I think you can dig deeper, go more complex than Sun-Mercury combination.

I have an air mercury in an air house Trine Saturn which is in air and in an air house. It’s like one part of how I communicate. I can be very matter-of-fact about things. With my mercury Square Uranus I can be dogmatic in communicating, abrupt, tactless. I also jump to conclusions, often when I’m around someone who is vague.

Are we actually looking at ourselves first and applying what we know about ourselves or looking at astrology and molding ourselves to fit what we read... 🤔

How close it mercury to your Sun? My mercury is combust to my Sun.

I’m definitely a know-it-all type of communicator. I definitely can make people uncomfortable with how I communicate.
