i posted this in miscellaneous too. but i want to know what my aquas think, specifically. 🙂

i want to know your take on this:
can being raised in a predominantly male environment cause girls/women to be agressive??

take me for example, i have 3 brothers. although my parents were divorced(i lived with my mom) i spent a lot of time at my dad's house. he had 4 of his brothers (my uncles) living there. i would hang out there, watch the games on tv (football, basketball, rugby, soccer, baseball) , play cards( poker, etc), horseshoes, craps, dominoes...well you get my point.

now (grown woman) i work in the engineering field. at my job there are 27 male engineers and 3 female engineers. of the 3 females its me(american),Sharon(UK) and Mable (canadian). although we are from different countries, we were all raised around mostly men. the guys at work call us aggressive.
but in the engineering field you have to be, some of the guys are real jerks. try to take credit for your work etc..

post please & thank you....

yeah, i think it can play a part, the enviroment u grew up in that is. Girls who grew up around men are more assertive, no pussyfooting and most have violent tendencies. Males play rough, so a girl in that enviroment will learn to toughen up as well. Dealing with too much male crap can make u aggro too *wink-wink*, lol. Common denominator is MEN and associations with them.

Yea definitely I was raised by women pretty much lol the opposite pretty much. Never had much of a father figure and always heard the women point of view and everything. It made me more understanding and self control than anything, so I can definitely see it happening with a women in a male environment becoming more aggressive. Tom boyish girls are one of the types I go for and most of them always say don't worry I had brothers I can wrestle lol always surprises me.

i was wondering about this because of an issue i am having at work.

i posted this to the miscellaneous forum:

" this dick at work said for me to be the chief engineer and to only have my fellow fem_engins on the project with me. we must be the most aggressive women in the engineering field. i know that sounds like a compliment kind of..but in the engineering world he was calling us tomboys/sluts. i am far from being tomboyish and my days as a slut are over. i can chill with the guys yes but i also like to go shopping with the girls.

my friends/coworker and i was just wondering about this. because they are forever calling us that, 'aggressive'. and that is the reason that i didnt pick any of them to work on this project with me. but i have to hire one guy grrr...i'm already grinding my teeth about it.

so we (my coworkers and I) had a question and i posted it here. thanks for responding"

They have probably have never been raised in that environment or seen anybody raised in it. Unless that person cuts off their family influences and decides to do their own thing it is definitely going to effect them in some way.

I am a girl... lol. Kinda boyish in clothing and how I carry myself. But I understand I am a woman and you can tell when you look at me. But I have knowledge or a vibe that's carried with males... Here's my take.

In my immediate family, my dad is the only male figure; I have my mom and 2 younger sisters. Being the oldest, my dad always had me help him with the work around the house. He's a carpenter, a handy man, so he always is out fixing the house or the cars. So he would always have me help, because I was the eldest and I guess to teach me to be a strong independent woman. So with that, I kinda grew up being a tomboy, and, well, just being more boyish. It's a little funny being able to go to some guys and say I can do this this and that. Haha.

However, he also has a bad temper and a bit of an alcohol problem. So I developed a bit of a temper from him too. Though I don't go crazy and explode yelling at everyone, very very few things just get me ticked, but I hide it and keep it all in my head. I also grew a hate with him and alcohol... Gah pisses me off everytime.

Overall, I think he really played a role as to who I am today.

My dad is the eldest of four brothers, my mom grew up with 2, she being the only female child (as well as the middle kid). So right away I have 6 blood related uncles. Out of my generation of kids, I'm the eldest on my mother's side, while the 2nd (by 2 months, but also the 1st girl) on my dads'. So the guys always took care of me. And because my elder cousin was a boy, they would always play football or skateboard and play video games and being crazy. And since we were just a few months apart, we were always together and of course I would join them and play around. I never had much of female roles in my childhood besides my mom and grandmothers. My aunts we're either hard to see, both because they just never came around and because most of my uncles are just barely getting married or in serious relationships.

So in a way, I guess having a lot of males does tune up aggressiveness, or just masculinity that's beyond genetics, such as personality.

This is the biggest reply I ever did...ever... lol

hello hw, do u have some aries in your chart or mars contacts to personal planets? I also click more with men than women. Chicky talks bore me. I also have no interest in girly things. I think thats because of my aries rising and my mars contacts- i never grew up around men, but my 1st friend ever was a boy until i was 13 (his family moved). He taught me how to pee standing up, lol. And he assured me that my dick would grow someday, what a liar. Yeah
