I understand this is an astrology forum but it seems to get a lot of traffic and if you are here then it usually means you have some interest in the spiritual realm etc etc so perhaps you have an interest also in interpreting dreams.

I had the most scary and surreal dream last night (no I'm not talking about being murderer or chased, I've had those before but could distinguish reality from the dream when I woke). However in my dream I was in bed going to sleep and I could feel the bed shake, it was slight but I could feel it. I then started to wonder if there was an earth quake (I'm in Australia so Earth quakes are pretty uncommon). It went on for a while so I tried to sit up to get a better feel of whether the room was shaking or not but as I tried to sit up I felt like I was being held down, like I couldn't move. I was stuck and my mind was freaking out as to why I couldn't sit up. I went into panic mode I guess shortly after I woke up. But because I was in the same scenario and position in reality as I was in the dream, I couldn't tell that I was awake until I was able to sit up.

I told myself it was all just a dream and after I calmed down I went back off to sleep, and BAM straight back into the same dream. This continued where I was in and out of the dream about 4 times. It had me so freaked out that I was scared to go back to sleep in the end (yes currently at work and feeling hella tired).

I know it doesn't sound scary, like woopdy Doo da, your bed was shaking and you couldn't move. But I think it was so scary because I was struggling to determine reality from the dream. It all felt so real. Plus being unable to move, feeling like you were being held down or glued to the bed was very freaky for me also. And constantly jumping back into that same dream..what the?

Does anyone know what this could mean?

That sounds a lot like Sleep Paralysis. It's when your mind (or consciousness) is well awake but your body isn't. So you'll end up actively dreaming but in reality. It's not uncommon and nothing to really be worried about - I'm not quite sure what triggers it but I've learnt from my own experiences that sleeping on your side (and not your back) as well as wearing one of those sleeping-mask-thingies might stop you from having any sort of visual attack. Some people think that Sleep Paralysis might be stress induced? It's generally not worth a visit to the doctor, but if you start hallucinating vividly as well and on a consistent basis to the point where you can no longer sleep, I'd say you should go get it checked out.

And since you're looking for some sort of spiritual insight, I've heard of people saying that Sleep Paralysis is when your mind and body are between some sort of spirit realm and reality. Although I don't have anything to support that claim.
