astrology : astronomy or spirituality

What do you think is the science behind astrology?

I've been quite intrigued by astrology for a couple of years now, often lurking these boards and examining the people around me. The more i learn about it, the creepier it gets. I've learned a lot about people's personality traits and how subtle the effects of astrology really are. It's like you can't grasp the certainties but have to intuit them through your own perspective. I don't know if this makes any sense to you..

Anyway

i think most people here have seen the truth in astrology, so i was wondering what is your scientific theory behind it?
How do you think the planets or other cosmic elements affect us? does it have to do with gravity, cosmic rays, .. ? Do you think this has a certain effect on our brains causing them to develop certain characteristics? Or do you think it is more of a spiritual thing affecting our soul? How do you think it works?

(excuse my english, it's not my native tongue)

"As above, so below" meaning what happens amongst the planets I think definitely effects us...we are energy and so influenced by shifts and so forth. Even more so when those shifts happen in any of our dominant signs like sun, moon,etc.
