Earth Sign in....

It's been bothering me. Why ascendant? Why not "earth sign" as that's what the ascendant denotes anyway...earth. Wouldn't it make more sense given everything else is in terms of planets? Frankly as an earth sign, I'm offended.

earth element vs. earth planet could get a bit confusing.

but technically, the ascendant = earth sign and it bothers me that i never made the correlation until recently but eh...i'm slow being an earth sign element...HA!
