How do you balance the characteristics of your North and South Nodes?

The type of astrology I study, the south node represents where the soul is coming from, what is instinctual to the person and the north node is where the individual is trying to go in this lifetime. Generic, very, very generic EXAMPLE (as many, many other factors play in): South Node Aries - North Node Libra - the individual in the previous life was an independent soul and coming into this life may instinctually feel independent. The lesson in this life is to learn how to participate in relationships equally, going from completely independent to interdependent with a partner.
