Okay, pray for world peace too. All the wonderful things. I know it's greedy to go to a group of strangers and ask for help for something small, but here goes:
Get me out of retail without just being fired. :/
I've hung on since 2004. Dang it... typical Oxen. But it drives me mad every single danged daggone day. I have patience, but cluelessness, and one of these times in honestly attempting to help someone (which ends up offending some people), I'm going to get myself fired. Egads!
Usually I apply to places online, because so many places when you show up in person, just send you to their website. Occasionally I apply in person, and then I get to WATCH as they scim right past all the abilities to the Past Jobs section, and CRINGE. What, like lack of opportunity has been on purpose on something.
I showed up in person recently for a clerical job, dressed all spiffy and such, with resume in hand. All they listed in the paper was an E-mail. But Google for address + GPS = awesomeness! It's a small outfit and they were very surprised. It has an awkward schedule with not many hours and zero benefits, so my hopes are the competition will be low. Having actually been there and all, now, I've decided I like the atmosphere too. The lady behind the counter had an absolutely Could Care Less -type attitude. Dull, perhaps, but not problematic. I could get along with her. The boss has a penetrating, albeit friendly, look. I liked her immediately. I want to work there. I can use the small hours to have more time at home to get a portfolio together and become some sort of freelance artist. Or get my life together. Or both. Because, awesomeness. So therefore I LIKE what they have to offer enough to stick around long enough to make hiring me worth their effort. Win-win! If the freelancing takes off I could actually see myself with them for the long haul.
Ethereal boosts much appreciated right now. They'll be taking applications for another week.
