What do degrees mean in natal charts?

I am Aries Sun 12 degrees, Gemini Moon 15 degrees, Venus Pisces 20 degrees, Cancer rising 23 degrees, Mercury Pisces 15 degrees, Mars Aquarius 29 degrees. Any help out there in the universe would be appreciated, especially in the area of relationships.

Wait a minute! So if I am Aries 12 degrees, I should be born after April 3? How does that work when I was born on April 1? Thanks for the hyperlink, I looked at it, just don't understand why my April 1 birthday should be a 12 degrees?

Spring starts on the 20th of March. The day night and day has the same length. Sun is in Aries somewhere between 0 and 1 degree.

20. to 31. of March make 11 days.
Add the first of April to it: 12.
