Henry VIII wasn't that bad really. Granted 6 wives does look bad but he only had 2 of them beheaded and one did indeed cheat on him with numerous people. he was ok really.

Yes well it wasn't unusual to have people executed then.
And they were both accused of having affairs. And if you're married to a king and have an affair its considered treason. Hence - beheading.

It was just the way things were done.When you look into all off them its not so bad that he had 6 wives. He had to make alliances sometimes and one died which was out of his control and the 1st one lasted 15 years or something. I defend him on htis whole wife thing, I really do.

We should still have beheadings.

LOL,CK,there's nothing wrong with a bit of machiavellian tactics specially if you're a king,eh? So he wanted to secure the line to the throne which is why he had to get rid of the first wife b/c she was unable to give him a male heir(otherwise he's pretty happy with having mistresses)...then he went after poor Anne after having her elder sister as his mistress.

Maybe the reason his wives betrayed him was that they never wanted to get married to him in the first place?

Anne Boleyn wanted to marry him. She wanted to be queen and have power. Thats why she wouldn't sleep with him until they were sure they could be married and why she encouraged him to break form Rome so they could be legally married. She fueled that whole fandango. But people in the government hated the influence she had over him and therefore conspired against her to have her beheaded.........

The last 3 wives were for alliances and he didn't even sleep with Anne of Cleves cause he hated her.

CK,reading back my response from yesterday I see I came on a bit strongly.Actually I'm quite apathetic about Henry, I guess he wasn't any worse than anyother powerful person in history...he did what he had to do.It's just that I'm an anarchist at heart...and sometimes I get on my high horse when I shouldn't.You are quite right about Anne Boleyn.Take care.
