In my opinion, I think in order for the Capricorn & Aquarius would be fine if they were just friends because as far as my experience, when intimacy plays, things will hit rockbottom for both Capricorn & Aquarius. Honestly, Capricorn & Aquarius approach conflicts in a blunt way which can lead to the both of them insulting each other which can hurt a friendship. However, Aquarius are forgiving people and it is up to Capricorn or Aquarius to be the bigger person as far as forgiving and forget and they'll quickly become friends again. It's weird, but boy...I would never want to pursue in intimacy or relationship with an Aquarius ever again.
