I'm like a little kid, waking up praying there is snow on the ground and ice all over the roads, hoping to get an excuse for a day off from work....all excited.....then....two hours later, I feel guilty, like I should try to make it in to work.

I feel guilty when I call in sick and I'm really sick.

I don't feel guilty on a scheduled day off though.

I wonder if everyone else feels the same way.

Do Snow Days Make you feel Guilty?

well for a start we don't get any snow here in the south 😢. and where i'm at, we're too close to the waters for snow. secondly, if we do get snow, it probably wouldn't make me feel guilty i wouldn't say. the last time we got dumped with heavy falling snow here where i'm at (dec 2010), i still ended up going to work. drove my harley davidson bike in it.

I'm in the south and it's very rare we get a snow/ice day. That's why we get all excited when it happens!

I don't feel guilty at all because they close work. Plus if my kid's school is closed, I don't really have a choice because I have to be there for him.

If I had a job that did not close, I would probably feel guilty.

I take a mental health day a month, almost. I kind of feel guilty about that, but when I take the day, I do chores around the house and I really can't get all caught up otherwise. Yes, they need me at work, but my family needs me too.

I sometimes come to work on my off days If I see that the workload is too much, my productivity is at 158 % of the expected goal and I haven't taken a sick day in 3 1/2 years. BUT I??ve called my boss letting her know that Ill be a couple of hours late due to ??excess of alcohol??, I??ve asked to leave early in order to better coordinate for romantic dates. I sometimes ask for Friday and Monday off (saturday and sunday being my regular days off) on top of my regular days off in order to enjoy time with friends or sit in the house eating icecream and watching chickflicks. So UmMmmm I guess I would feel guilty if there was ALOT of work to be done, otherwise NAH. =D

I think you should just use reason. if you are a dedicated worker and mostly productive, then calling in sick or skipping work time to time is okay. You should feel guilty based on your history and level of productivity to the company. there are someone who should pickup for you when you are gone. they need to prove themselves for their laziness.

I hate it when other people try to do my work. They make a mess of it and leave it unorganized. I'd rather bust my butt when I get back, than sort through the chaos they left behind.

But that is just me. 🙂
