i.........i don't understand.
why everyone and their gramma likes twilight...including ike the dark monk.
indeed i haven't read a single book by this fine woman. so i don't have an opinion either way about her writing. what i do know is that the movie was HILARIOUS, just so so awesomely bad. my favorite part is when edward goes to show bella "why vampires never show themselves in the sun." here i'm thinking he's gonna turn around with some kind of hideous burn or deformation, but no - he glitters. HE GLITTERS! priceless. i thought maybe they should have thrown in a flourescent leotard also, to add to the effect. but meh, what do i know about production?
the subconscious archetypal pulse thing - i'm sold. anything even vaguely referencing jung has my stamp of approval, especially when it comes to otherwise completely inexplicable pop culture phenomenons.
which brings me to another intriguing possibility for much of the book's appeal: TWEENS, TEENS, AND ALL THEIR CERAZYYY HORMONAS.
although, individuals such as myself also helped. i just love bad movies, sometimes even more than good movies.
what can i say, i am a "sheeple" sometimes, as evidenced by my use of that horrendously overused term which is neither original nor particularly clever.

I'm still not touching Breaking Dawn. Rather, I'm reading Edward's version. I find it very refreshing. At least, I dont get to read one million ode's to Edward's heartbreaking beauty.
And I must say that his version(Midnight Sun) is a hell lot funnier than Twilight, right from the first chapter.

I still don't know what to think of all this twilight hysteria. It's a little confusing and way overblown.
I like dark stories. I like Vampires and Werewolves but this teeny bopper stuff has sort have turned me off to it all. I'm thinking about reading the books but the movie was awesomely BAD. I mean I was laughing at parts that weren't meant to be funny. The cheese factor........ ugh. I quit watching it half way through. It was getting sickenly annoyingly too predictable and way to cheesy romance novel for me.
It's really too bad because done right and this could have been a really good story 🙂

LOL Sagi.. I'd have finished it too but my Aries fell asleep and I took that as a "hint" to shut it off and come to bed. I spent the whole movie hoping it would get better. *cringe* It just kept getting worse.

I like the way meyer has looked at the other side of vampire and werewolf legends and developed them into a fantasy of her own. Parts are not well written (usually bits linking one good bit to another). However, she does come up with some insightful sci fi/fantasy and almost literary gems in other places which make it worth going on.
I also agree that Jacob would definitely be a saggy. Edward is apparently a gem, but I would have said scorp too.
I was thinking about Sag as well. Given the fact that our very caring Bella conveniently forgot to wish him bday, since she was wallowing in her own loss of Edward's beautiful, heartbreakingly breathtaking form. It passed during her numb-period (somewhere oct-jan) so i guess Sag it is.
It suits him the most.
As for Edward, he's supposedly Gemini, as stated in the books, his bday is in june.
But I wonder if someone's astrological traits also change with vampirisation. Could it be that he adopted the traits of the sign-in whose month he was changed into a vamp?

LOL yeah. I thought he was hot before then I saw when his bday was. I fell head over heels when I realized we shared a bday. 😛 It doesn't surprise me that he's a Scorpio. Those eyes!! We share the exact same eye color too. Even my Aries mentioned that too me.

ok question one. Why is this thread specifically in the capricorn section? Or do other sections have it and I missed it.
Is it because the author was born on chrstmas eve and is a cappy (yeah I looked it up)?
Anyway, i'm not hear to cause arguments or anything but I have a lot of issues with these books. Now lets blame my Gem-moon which loves to try and see things from other points of view and likes to discuss.
But I really don't get the big deal. I read the first 3 books (bought the first, borrowed the next two) and I know most of the plot of Breaking Dawn but they drive me crazy. They annoy me more than a book has any right to. Bella is so annoying to read, she's utterly pathetic, Edward is controlling and it's shown as romantic, the plot holes are everywhere. It comes off really sexist to me in a lot of ways; I find myself wanting to scream at Bella to get a backbone. From a literary POV, apart from the plot holes, it seems like a wet dream with overly flowerly language and big words used incorrectly. It also tells instead of shows.
And the love is just horrible. It's completely unbelievable and not because it's all consuming or they'd die for each other or whatever but because it's based on nothing. It's so shallow and we're constantly told it's deep.
You see how riled up this gets me? It's insane

This thread is on the capricorn because I wanted it on the capricorn board. Thats all, I wanted it here so I created it here. Plus this is my home board, so most of my thread will always be here, they will not be in too many other places.
Also, this thread is kinda like a bookclub for Twilight if you will 🙂 So was the previous one that CGL created and that one is still going too. If you are not a fan of Twilight .... than don't read it. I see if you have issue but you don't have to read it. Plus, all this is really for fun, not anything else.

Even I dont remember if he told when he was changed. that left the issue hanging. I'm sure Meyer didnt know that astro freaks like would go Volturi on her ass. haa haa
Although, on many occasions, I do feel that Meyer was using astrology to define characters, consciously or subconsciously.
I can see the virgoness in Bella, very typically virgo at times. Then Jacob seems like a total Sag.
Although with Edward, it doesnt seem to work. His shifty mood swings might be it, but other things dont match Gems.
Alice seems like a Libra with Aqua moon or rising, or an aquarius.(she reminds me of Lady M)
Jasper looks like pisces or cancer.
Emmett, a leo or aquarius(my cousin says so)? not very sure, but seems like a happy go lucky sort of guy.

I think bella's character has been made this way to make her like a person to whom other teen girls could relate to...
and she's a virgo!...omg omg shitz...hahaha...and devil said she acts like a virgo? i wanted to debate it, but see where he's coming from...
she's constantly worried about minutest of things...she's observes things in details...she's nitpicky as well...
but her dreamland ways i also understand...i've been like that...living in my own fantasy world as a teen...
but she tries to stay practical...and overdoes it at times...and then recoils back...🙂
but about her amazingly clumsy ways...i'm clumsy as well...but sometimes i really dont want a guy to intercept my gracious fall or stumble or collision...thats how u learn to face the world...thats how tried to(but failed...cos i still fall/collide with things)...
but thats not the real issue here...she's just...what is that word?...moany? groany? complaining about everything...i mean, who cries about the weather...? there are worse things to cry for...
i do understand the part where she feels she's not good enough for him...most women go through that stage when young...i also did...but that was general thoughts on my appearance as a growing teen...

I think he was better looking in his harry P times. His looks are likely the type to fade or become less extraordinary with age, but who knows.
I think some men can be beautiful, but it's generally a teen thing to go for pretty boys. It's unusual for the beauty to last past a certain age with men. Their features fill out and become more manly. But if you are a teen girl crushing on a guy for the first time, the sort of looks that appeal are often not manly but boyish. Although I am not sure meyer had the teen market in mind when she wrote the book. I think maybe she wanted to go back to a more innocent time in her life to escape in her mind from the tedium of her marriage.
