What flavor injection might go well with a salt, seasoning and apple juice brine? Or is that overkill?
Turkey prep
i did it 😄 turned out to be really really flavorful without losing any natural flavor.
first i brined it for 12 hrs
2 Tbsp each of rosemary, sage and thyme, 1 Tbsp of pepper, 1 cup of salt (we ran out of table salt, so used sea salt instead which imo, is way too strong for something like brining so i used less) and 2 quarts of apple juice.
before popping it into the oven, we smothered as much of the skin as we could with butter, then injected with a melted mix of: butter, garlic powder, pepper, lemon juice and a bit of salt.
we basted maybe five times in 4 hrs and it still came out nice n juicy.
though, i hafta say??_ for as tasty as it was, i'd prob use less salt in the future if i'm going to both brine and inject with flavor.
