pop-up ads

am I imagining it, or are there pop-up ads that happen on this site now? Just curious, doen't really matter either way.

i have heard of "hidden" programs that get installed on your computer that serve popup ads over other people's sites.

gator is the main one that comes to mind.

you should check out Ad-aware. they have a program that searches your computer for these spyware programs.

I really appreciate the help. I will check out the link. What if I find one? I really don't like the sound of "spyware", etc. Not that I've been anywhere incriminating...*coughliterotica.comcough*...lol

DXP's correct. Ad-ware is very good. It's free & easy to use. (there's a pro version, but the free one is sufficient)
Spyware mainly collects data (w/o your consent) and sends it back to the companies. I assume you later get bombarded with unwanted emails,etc.

Thanks, both of you. With that particular site, they seem to leave me alone (this is starting to sounds really bad...lol, anyway....) it's the only one if it's kind that I OCCASIONALLY visit, because of that fact.

Last thought on this topic.. I have noticed alot of the Astrology sites throw alot of pop ups.

I have noticed that too Espernaut. Especially Astrology.com, and you know, they never used to. Just in the last year or so the volume of ads I have to close has grown to like eighteen trillion. I pulled that number out of the sky, but it *feels* like that many. I hate it.
