i quit as he fired me...then as i was leaving saw he was following me out of the corner of my eye and did my upmost to slam the door in his face but he got the door and was still coming at me....i swear i nearly bitch-slapped him!!

so. what happened was that he asked me to do a bio page on one of our websites yesterday. cos of various reasons, he only wanted two team members featured and the rest written about collectively. i did that. this morning he's screeching for this bio page. he shows me the mock up and asks where the bios are. the mock up has every single team member on. so i say to him i have bios for the two he requested and the rest collectively.

that was the ignition.

the situation is that i actually work freelance and have other cients who i work from home for and so where someone else may have started profusely apologising, i was not having his shit for one second. we were proper in each others' faces, f-bombs all over...then the door slamming..he followed me all the way outside being blas? about me leaving...kept saying 'see ya rox' in a casual way, LMFAO!!!

he does this with people occasionally and they mostly grovel their way back in his good books. well, my face is absolutely not bothered at all, i don't think i would ever be desparate enough for a job to be spoken to like that!

plus the fact, cos i'm freelance, i own the copyright to everything i write. i can have his websites knocked off google any time i like. done it before and will do it again.

anyhow, how about that for typical leo behaviour? the fight was absolutely nothing to do with the bio page and it's been building for a while cos he's worried about my loyalty. i was talking to yet another leo colleague only 10 minutes before (lots of fires signs in sales) about how he had a really long fuse but when he lost it, he lost it over something stupid and lost it good.

strange little irony that..but anyhow, would you say this was the case? what's your temper like. how unreasonable can you become?

oh yeah...and how long before you back down, cos i'm sure as hell not going to! i liked working with him though and we always had a good laugh until today.

I dunno, i'm thinking this is about a lot more than what happened yesterday. I feel something has been building for a while and something small and stupid set the bomb off.

Sometimes I feel I can't explain myself properly - on reflection - when I think I have, so it can make me very frustrated when someone doesn't pick up on something - maybe that's a possibility.

"had a really long fuse but when he lost it, he lost it over something stupid and lost it good."

It takes a hell of a lot to rise me to a temper and it would have to be something big - but when I do people need to duck - yep I lose it good and don't care who is looking or hearing. But having said that, I could lose my temper once a decade, normally i'm very diplomatic, find it easy to see another persons point of view.

This guy sounds like an idiot, is he having trouble with the fact your a power woman do you think.

yeah. he's a hardcore jew. i'm jewish too but this guy is like my dad's generation? they're like a breed apart from anything else....nasty horrible people which i know sounds prejudice and that would be cos i am prejudiced against them, lol.

he likes his employees to be desparate. if anyone needs to ask for an advance on their wages, they have to go directly to him. the knobhead leo i was seeing did some work in our building (which is where we met) and cos we had spent two full days chatting and he'd only managed to fix a couple of sockets, there was a massive query over his bill. my boss leo was sitting on his swivelly chair with a sneer on his face and his back to the knobhead and was saying that he'd spent all the time chatting me up and so how did he justify the amount...he assumes always that people here are desparate for money cos mostly expats in spain are...but he was wrong with the knobhead and so that got extremely messy very quickly and i had to leave my office before it exploded...which it did...leo on leo is a horrible thing to see...PLUS the knobhead is ALSO jewish and so it's always a bit more personal.

i've recently scored a lot more work and so whereas i was dependant on my leo boss before and he could be manipulative and tightfisted, now i don't need it and so i call the shots.

he didn't like that and the bio thing gave him the first excuse to lose it with me enough to fire me.

i'll give him the weekend and then i'll let him know my price for buying the rights to his websites 😄

maybe it's more a jewish thing? when we lock horns with eachother, someone is going down...just depends who gets on top first. never trust a jew in business. specially a leo one!!

Sounds like true love to me . . .

the man is grotesque. he had a gastric band fitted two years ago and went from being the size of a planet to being normal over a very quick period of time. he still has all the skin though, lol.

he's married to an equally grotesque lioness...yep i'm always surrounded...and remember he is a jew! the only thing he truly loves is money.

i've just been telling my aries daughter about it. the girl is very impressed with me right now. she said that it was about time i stopped being a mattress....i told her it was doormat...we laughed our heads off. she's always getting the wrong word for something on account of living in spain nearly all her life, lol.

Leo/Scorp 😉 It'll always end up this way, who gets on top first starts off the right way (wink wink) but ends up the wrong way given time.

to be honest, this isn't bothering me enough to fight over anyway. i don't mind leaving cos i have other really time consuming projects and there's still more to come. plus the sun is out already. we have an early summer and my terrace beckons. i can mooch around and do my own thang but i'll miss the peeps at the office. oh yeah...i wonder if that leo will call me now i'm not the office ink, lol. thinking about it, he's one of the only people who have my number.

oh yeah very true about the idle mind!! don't play with the devil though, do as seraph says and come play here 🙂

yeah, i know my boss will climb down. he's always firing people!! they usually flee in tears cos when he loses it, it's like the worst kind of volcano you can imagine. i was cheered up by the fact that my colleagues were impressed with how i gave as good as i got.....only cos i knew i was right though.

thinking about it, i don't want to continue working with him on the same basis we have been anyway. he likes me to be at the office so he can see that i'm working and also cos he does have a crush on me but it's hard for me to do that cos i have to be around for my daughter and it's quite a distance from the office to where we live (by european standards anyway, it's a 45 minute drive). i know he needs me cos i'm the only one who does what i do at the company and i know his businesses inside out. and i know there's no-one better for the job on the coast..mainly cos i'm very experienced rather than just being a big head. also, i'm kinda passionate about the stuff i do and always give 110% and i know from my own experience having a business that it's hard to find people with the same level of commitment that you have.

this guy has wasted shed loads of time and money paying people in london who don't know what they're talking about to disappear up their own asses at his expense while he ignores the people he has working for him in spain who are experienced and commited and yet underpaid and constantly disrespected..not just myself either cos there's a few who are taken the piss out of like this.

if i continue working for him, it has to be on my terms. he pays shit money and losing this job represents a loss of less than a quarter of my income so i don't need the aggro. he either starts treating me with a bit more respect or he can go fuck himself.

wounded: it's ok cos i don't feel bad about this. the guy is a well known sleazeball. haha, actually i've just remembered i have a blackmail file on him. he had a habit of writing me notes when on planes and usually it would be on an envelope or any scrap of paper he had to hand. on one particular occasion, he had been in panama where the company is registered and he wrote me a note on the hotel bill. everyone knows he likes his coke and hookers...apart from his wife who occasionally works in our office of course. anyhow, i kinda checked out the hotel bill and on three nights of his stay, he was charged for an 'otra persona' which is not just an extra person but an extra person of the female persuasion.

i joked with him about it and said i wasn't giving it back. he'll probably remember this at some stage LOL!!!

i've also got together all the original files for the content of 6 websites of his..plus another 5 publications available for download from those sites. i'm poised to do a takedown on all of his websites unless he's prepared to talk to me like a civilised human being.

i'm not sad about this...i'm absolutely raging!! mars in leo. RARRRRRRRR!!

work-related things always get to me. it's been hard creating a niche for what i do and i've finally got there after 10 years in spain which being a single parent has not been easy. i thought my boss had more respect for me than he has shown today and even though i know he will talk to me again as though nothing happened, i'm disappointed in him. he treated me like some kind of rookie and was totally out of order.

when a woman fights alone to survive and furthermore to excel at chosen sphere of her life, journey can never be easy,no matter where she lives ,and yes there are certain psychological and cultural trends in her immediate surroundings which make the journey even more difficult.
you are right to be disappointed in you boss;when you know a person has witnessed your struggle, your devotion and honesty to your work and yet turns out to be horribly blase about everything you have put in so far can be quite shocking.
but you also know that by the virtues of all above things you have an edge over him!
you do not have to compromise on anything as such, you won't have to lose the ground, and eventually he would come back to his senses and when he does either by acting as if nothing happened in the first place, or by trying to act contrite and apologetic, you can then give him a piece of your mind again.
he would take it, won't even react and would still try to amend things,i promise !

I couldn't read past the third post. I'm pretty offended. Usually I'm not quick to become up in arms about things but Jewish comments are pretty hurtful, and people are still very violent towards Jews. Irregardless of how things are meant, people will always surprise you. Even it's it's just as a stereotype or joke - I've still learned to assume the friend who makes a Jew stereotype comment may also be the one who paints a swastika on your car window. That's the scene I found outside of the library I was studying at - yesterday. I'm not making this about me so I'll just answer and leave the thread.

No I'm not quick to temper and I don't back down. He sounds like a typical immature male Leo who breastfed too long and has some issues and very anal retentive personality.

Just make it a clean break and send a memo stating your copyrights and the timeframe and guidelines to rewrite and change the coding and design. He'll do it again in you don't give him the 'real world' business break. Good luck.

well perhaps i should explain. i am jewish myself. born in israel. considering my parents are both holocaust survivors, i won't be putting any swastikas anywhere.

i was offended by someone at work the other day when i was talking with one colleague about his recent trip to israel when another guy just butted in with 'i fuckin' hate israelis, they are all c**ts' before regaling me with his story about an encounter with an israeli soldier at some embassy in chile, where this guy is from.

now that kind of behaviour is repellant. i had him fired immediately and the leo was happy to let him go.

every ethnic group has stereotypes and those stereotypes form the basis of some of the best comedy out there....just as long as its someone with the same ethnicity that's telling the joke 😉

it's actually the fact that we're both jewish that i know this will blow over with the leo. i'll sulk for as long as i deem necessary though cos i already know i won't be hearing an apology.

If I could give you the longest hug, ever - I would. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes that are begging to come out but dammit this mascara was too expensive to waste my lashes!

I'm not ethnically Jewish but religiously Jewish. But irrelevant - since we are all in some dose 'children of Israel'.

Where I am is very much a Catholic area and unfortunately not understanding of diversity. I have a first generation friend who is a Russian Jew, that has encountered horrific prejudice even from the moment eyes are on her. It's disheartening since I've been advised not to wear the Star of David. When, my friend can't just cover up her face. That would be wrong of me, anyway.

I appreciate your words and heart from the deepest bits of my Scorpion Moon, and wish I could somehow share the extent of that in text.

Your parents are insurmountably strong.

Thank you a thousand times over for your clarification.. and for my curiosity after posting. 😛

yeah...all of those from my parents' generation are strong people. my dad was liberated from auschwitz at age 7 and my mother who was born in the warsaw ghetto had been smuggled out before the ghetto jews fought back in the uprising in 1943, when it was levelled by the nazis and the rest of her family apart from a sister perished in treblinka.

it's unimaginable what they went through but they largely have no memory of it cos they were so young. unfortunately, for my dad who was a little older, the conditions he grew up in were very much his 'normality' and he's never been able to adjust to the world as it really is. i love both of my parents but because of what they went through, they are emotionally very remote and as a result, we are not very close at all.

because of the myriad of movies about the holocaust, the general perception is that the jews were 'victims' which is something they really dislike. before the holocaust, they were the most powerful and influential people in europe, if not the world. they took their persecution in the biblical sense of it being a test of faith or confirmation of being 'chosen'.

if you go to israel as a tourist and ask an older random stranger in tel aviv what the time is, you will be shocked at how rude they are. there's an inherent mistrust of outsiders. a deep seated superiority. israelis of a certain generation are generally not very nice people because of where they originated from.

yeah, drama is a bit of a sticky issue with me. i don't create it (i don't think) but i certainly witness it a lot...which reminds me of my excuse for my crap driving which is that i've never caused an accident, but witnessed many LOL.

anyhow, to update, the boss flew to his villa on majorca today and so he's gonna be chilled and relaxed at the weekend and i'm gonna email him. the baaaadest thing about leos is that you just can't be mad at them for long 🙂

i went to the office today cos i'd walked out without taking my glasses and so was blind as i don't wear contacts..not quite sure how i managed to drive home but anyway. i felt quite pleased with myself cos everyone was saying how awesome i was in the fight with him the day before and that they'd switched the radio off so they could hear what we were screaming at eachother, LOL. so i was quite the hero.

but bless him...he had a really bad day and i know there are other reasons why he flipped out and it's cos he's worried about my loyalty. so i'm gonna reassure him that he has my loyalty (which he does) and slightly change the terms of my deal with him so that i don't have to be at the office every working day cos my work fluctuates so it's only worth him paying for what he actually needs doing, and then there will be a more professional distance between us and he'll also benefit massively from the advertising he'll get via my work with an industry magazine. it's a win/win for him and me.

but what made me melt a little bit and start to feel sorry for him was that apparently, after i left, he asked nearly everyone in the building if they could write the bios....they all shrugged and said no...so he did it himself.

now, bearing in mind this is on an ethical investment website which is targeted at a serious-minded client base, would you consider the following qualities alongside pictures of the team appropriate?

once stood within 20ft of the queen
is addicted to socially responsible investing
finds his peace in the garden
is a carbon connoisseur

when the IT guys showed me the page i was like...ARE YOU KIDDING ME—....i thought they were showing me a spoof bio page but no, the boss had penned it himself after exhausting his search for someone else to do it.

LOL!!! how cute is that?

alles is gut!! after a rapid fire email negotiation, we have drawn up a new agreement. seems like the root of the problem was not me working for other eco companies but that i had been working ultra short days which is cos i have to get home to meet my daughter from the school bus. i said that if we switched from a retainer to how we were before, with itemised invoicing and less scheduled hours, that might work out better all round. we agreed everything and then he told me to get on with it!! lol. he's alright really. he fired a total of 7 people on the day we had our fight...i'm the only one going back which says something 🙂
