that's y. congrats for gradumation. but truth is that i don't like the idea of people taking all AP classes and never learning anything and worse the stress of them. it doesn't matter what u take is all the same course just how they teach them is the difference. they need not to make people belif that tougher classes will get u somewhere. u see a friend of mine took all ap and tried to get gov. scholar. well he ened up not being expeceted to an esay colloge to get accpeted to 'cause of his low gpa due to the honor and ap classes. they need not to press such stuff. and for the record i'm more a left brain then right. more adutiory leaner then visual. and i'm musican and have good hearing. so that makes since.

That's a very good post James.. You've hit a topic that I've had troubles grasping in the past. (re: those advanced courses.) GPA is important (unfortunately) and seems the only way there is to establish some kind of measuring stick among students. And yet I think it's biased. I passed up a few accelerated learning courses when in school, for that very reason. They sounded much more interesting, but care & feeding of my GPA seemed to be of the utmost concern for me then. To the point of obsessiveness, meaning.

interesting...because my GPA is/was a 99.6 and would never had been that high if I didn't have honors and AP classes that get factored. Factoring: a regular class is a factor 8 class so the grade is multiplied by 8 and divided by 8, an AP class is factor 10 so multiplied by 10 and divided by 8 so my average looked like 85 in those classes but was factored anywhere between 100 and 115. I don't see how a school could get away with NOT factoring these classes. But its also a problem with private/prep schools in which its much much harder to get a 90 average and they have to use the clout of their school to override the problem of GPA. Oh and also, I only took two AP classes-US history and english lit/language- so I can't say how much I learned/didn't learn in comparison but I can say that the classes are much much harder than regular college classes and taking the AP classes makes many students nervous about how hard college wil be.

About factoring.. (I just learned something the hard way..) It means I didn't ask about the harder courses & now I see that I should have. I assumed.. too much. (Rats!)
I've got a BS in Bus Administration. However, I really don't know where my university would rate, stacked against the rest. (I've my doubts.) One nice aspect of college, and things being harder however, is that the approach can be different. You Can.. decide to only take 1 class (not economical, but you could) up to @ 6 classes. If you needed < courses to > study time, you could. Also, failing.. isn't "final". You can retake. (I'm sure you know this, so I'll quit here.) I've only heard of a few classes that explicitly Had To be passed on the 2nd attempt, or forfeit your major.

lol morgan, I never asked about my class rank/GPA after the semester, just used the one at the beginning of the year. But with my college classes factored into the the high school GPA, my rank and GPA should be higher. and hahaha just pointing out a convenient detail to tease you.

espernaut-you can decide to take only one class, but then you do not qualify as a full-time student and then can't get scholarship money or financial aid. As for failing, you still have to worry about the tuition cost of repeating the same class.

Both points very true. (the classes, not the evil..) And also the extremes, I realize. Some majors require a B average in certain courses.. it could sometimes be more beneficial to drop the sinking ship and save the rest of the courseload. Didn't you ever feel the pressure when forced to pile on more than you actually wished to handle, simply to save money and time? Because I did. Usually it worked out "alright".. but the GPA would have been higher, or my stress level Alot Lower, if not such a pace. (My actual enjoyment factor would have been much higher.)

yes, I'm piling up on my courseload next semester six classes, debate team, and crew. Classes every summer (hopefully abroad) and classes during christmas break. But its not to save time overall i'll still have five years of college (one done while in high school), and I do not have to pay any tuition so I don't have to worry about money.

Morgan, you're too much of a wimp to revenge upon me...i dare you to.

sloane... no offense to you and your post but I've counted my blessings and there are no where near as many as my curses (besides I've had enough time living "horrowing financially"). I don't have to pay tuition because my aunt/guardian works at the post office of the college I go to and its one the employee benefits.

espernaut lol I think I have scared away a few people that way already and I refuse to argue with Morgan because I know I am right 😛
