Terrible song. She should just stick with rolling in the deep.

Terribly sung, or terrible song?
I agree it's a terrible song, wonderfully sung. None with so much emotion.

I donno its like Rebecca Black's Friday. It sucks no matter who sings it.

Yes, she did write it.
"This is a song by English singer-songwriter Adele, from her second album, titled 21. She premiered the song on November 16, 2010 on Later Live with Jools Holland.
Adele told The Sun: "It's simple - just letting go. It makes me really upset. It's my most articulate song. It's just to the point, it's not trying to be clever, I think that's why I like it so much, because it's just so honest, no glitter on it."

"This is the first single from English R&B singer-songwriter Adele's second album 21. The song was written and produced by Adele and British producer Paul Epworth, who is best known for manning the boards for Bloc Party and Florence and the Machine, and also for his work on Everything Is New, the second release from Adele's chum, Jack Pe?ate. Adele describes the single as a "dark bluesy gospel disco tune."
On this revenge song, Adele lays into a former boyfriend. "It's me making a bit of a statement," she told Q Magazine. "People will hear it and go, Wow, she ain't mucking around."
Adele described the song to Spin Magazine as a kiss-off to an unfaithful dude. "It's me saying, 'Get the f--- out of my house instead of me begging him to come back.""
Dedicating this song to me would probably make me feel like he knew he'd always love me, and was afraid that when he finally got his ducks in a row, found the courage, and got his head out of his ass (years later perhaps) and looked me up, he might find it was too late and I'd have moved on and found someone better. So next best thing.. he'll wish me the best, and hope to find someone "like" me, someone with qualities like me, someone to love since he can't have me.

That's the basic gist/feeling Adele put into this song... In a "mini interview" type thing at the beginning of the following video, she explains a bit about "Someone Like You" (and also compares it to her vastly different mindset when she wrote "Rolling In The Deep")... and apparently, both are about the same man/relationship.. a relationship that brought her to her knees (her words) but also strengthened and changed her.

This one happens to be my favorite version of Someone Like You... but then, I've always liked a capella and unplugged versions of songs, ones that are more raw and natural, not so "studio-ized" *smile*

Hmm.. can't get it to embed properly, and I'm sleepy.. oh well.. here's the link.

Nefer, did you know the person she sung about wanted royalties for the song? I guess she was discreet about it - who she sung about remains unknown..

"OhHAY! I fucked you over and broke your heart into pieces, but you "turned your sorrow into treasured gold" and since you wouldn't have written those songs if I wasn't such a douche to you, I think you should pay me some of that money rolling in off your talent! I deserve it!"

HAHA! I find that terribly amusing, but more than a little horrifying. Reminds me of Eminem and his mother -- and her wanting paid royalties or threatening to sue him for slander - sadly, I do believe the bitch got her payday before Eminem told her to fuck off forever.

That's just crazy to me, thinking you are entitled to financial compensation because someone wrote a song about you. Wouldn't you say just about EVERY song is written about SOMEONE, especially "love" or "heartbreak" ones? Boggling.

😛. I know what you mean. Libra is a thinking sign afterall.
Libras deal with emotions by vaporising them - thats prolly an air sign defense. Thus, they come across as unfeeling androids, till they deal with them again for reals.

Yes correct
When Libra is in love..sometimes it's hard to show..because we seem distant, and we are.
But when the other party left..then we look back and remember the loss and we grieve in silence.

Hi, Spicachu

Nevermind, I'll find someone like you,
I wish nothing but the best for you, too,
Don't forget me, I beg

afa Im concerned, I wouldn't care about how I *feel*

I think the person is deceptive.
takes people for granted,
until he/she comes to realize they can enjoy life without him/her

to me,
it's an attempt to have someone back,
mostly to comfort one's ego

OSF, who cares about celebrities anyways, but your post got me thinking about the true meaning to the song.
You definitely have a very perceptive grasp of linguistics.
I actually think that Adele was the one who did wrong, and not the one she sung about.. because there she said in the interview (Nefer posted) that she saw him with kids and all that and she will be alone.

Adele has a Sagittarius moon; I think that has something to do with it. She fugged it up.. loved her freedom too much till that ex whom she claimed to love left and (apparently) will go on to have beoootiful kidz.. while she is still indulging that wild horsey!

Bingo, got it!

I would think maybe the ex was just kidding.. or said it in a kidding way.. or perhaps to test if her love is unconditional. I don't think they got it anyhow.

Someone like you means to me

a sadness and the reality of losing a true love, someone you will always love but don't feel any nastiness towards and the hope that one day you will find someone like them again and it will work for you.

Sometimes no matter how much we want it it doesn't work with two people but that doesn't necessarily mean hatred between you...

Thanks for your input.
Basically, I feel that finding "someone like them" is not an ethical concept, because one hasn't gotten over that which he/she is seeking a carbon copy of. It's not too hard to find likeness in people, but who they were/are in love with was never who would be in front of them, but a past memory of someone who once was.

My type of "freedom" involves exploration. Learning about new places/people/things and to have a partner that is willing to explore and experience those things WITH me, would be great. Everyone likes there "space" or "alone time" to a degree, there isn't one sign out there that doesn't. Not to mention the fact that it's "healthy" for the relationship. It's just a matter of mastering the skill of time management.

With that said, or what would be, an even more interesting factor to know is...What are HIS Sun and Moon signs?

You're right about time management.

HIS (adele's ex's) Sun and Moon signs? You can hope one day one of her "friends" leaks it into the press. Right now, there's no way of knowing 🙂

Heh, and the other one comes from way darn sarf !! 🙂

up north, you meant ?

Umm no, I was thinking from the gut/because she's a Londoner (I think) ?

I thought it was the voicebox (Eve's apple if you may)?

Oh I saying it as physically.
From the gut= like shooting from the hip
+ the southern bit 🙂
I guess if she was belching words that'd be literally from the gut ?🙂

Lol. Spica now I see what you meant.
I don`t know who is Kim Wilde, but she`s not that scary.haha.
Oh, and Ushi is a great actress.

She's not scary, but she seems easily hurt. But Ushi went on and on like it was nuffing.. lol.
But you see the atmosphere to both was different. Wilde took it very serious. Adele was laffing like a hyena intermittently throughout. I agree with Ushi. She totally transformed.
