Not chump change for a youngish company.Posted by Black-MambaPosted by TheRabbit
To be honest, the whole white collar vs blue collar culture war butter is played out. Our society needs a well rounded, capable, and varied workforce.
If you're still looking at the other side with derision because you think you're better, you're probably not nearly as smart as you think you are.
You can eyeroll all you want, but as other posters here have also pointed out, I know blue collar guys with their own businesses making way more money than most white collar office guys and are in the position to soon be able to sit back and work minimal hours letting others run day to day operations while the white collar guys are still putting in long hours just to afford their student loan payments.
who owns it? lol working for one and owning one are two different things
Exactly. Everyone knows some blue collar worker that owns his own company but that's not even close to the norm. The majority are out there slaving away for less money.
The two most important things someone has in their lifetime is their time and their health. You don't want to degrade your health changing mufflers and digging ditches your entire life. For example, my grandfather was an airplane mechanic. He had a pension but never lived to enjoy it because his job was too taxing. My uncle works in a blue collar industry and he's noted how many times someone has put in 20 years and when they decided to retire, they died within a couple of years. Was that worth it?
I don't understand this mentality where you go to work 9-5 your whole life, never have many varied life experiences, live in the same small hamlet thus limiting perspective, kill yourself physically, and then act like you're doing God's work by putting an 'honest day's work' while making money for someone else. It's pidgeonholing yourself and then trying to justify it.click to expand
