Should I ditch (aka throw away/give it to someone who could use it) my hair straightener...
Or...
Keep it "just in case"..
My hair has been wavy my entire life but has gotten curlier (like my mom's has) every few years. Maybe like, 7/8th grade it got actually curly not wavy.. it was thicker then as well, has since thinned just a tidbit. Also my mom told me her hair got curlier with every kiddo she had (there's three of us, and her's has always been thinner than mine but more cork-screwy). My dad's always had wavy-curly hair.
K I'm rambling, point is - I finally have decided to try and embrace whatever my hair wants to do and haven't straightened it in months...so...
Should I just get rid of the straightener, or keep in 'in case'?
Why would someone, gifted by nature with bouncy curls, try to look like she was licked by a cow, and damaged her hair in the process?!
I wish I had curly, rather than wavy hair. I had it straighten it once, for free, by someone selling hair straighteners in a shopping mall in the US, while waiting for my husband to shop. When he returned, the girl with the straighteners asked him if he liked my new hair style . He said a dry "No", lol Yes, it was very silky, but flat. No, it didn't suit me.
I keep mine just in case. My daughter uses it sometimes lol
But to be honest, I prefer natural now.. My hairdresser cuts it to go with my natural waves & thins it out in back.. I have a lot of hair lol it’s so much easier not fighting a straight hair style or straightening it anymore.
I had nice silky pin straight hair when I was young and then BAM puberty made it wavy. I enjoy my wavy hair but the shorter it is, the more wavy/tighter the waves get so I keep it long to hip length to make gravity give me looser waves. However I suspect after I have any kids in the future that my hair might get straight up curly like my mom’s did 😫 I would hate that so much. I am trying to figure out life hacks to contain it.
I stopped using a straightener after high school because I don’t need that extra damage.
