Yeah hurricane Andrew really fucked South Florida. I witnessed it first hand as well.

All the storms mostly miss us where I'm at, either going like 30+ miles north or south.
The last tropical storm that passed by was Charley I guess?...which royally screwed Port Charlotte.

I went to the beach to see the waves. 🙂 That was pretty crazy. You could barely stand out there. Not to mention getting pounded by sand. I was scared my little plastic Saturn was going to get blown off the road on the way back.

I saw the aftermath of Andrew as well but wasn't there for the storm. I'm sure I didn't see anywhere near what you guys may have seen. I know it looked like a war zone there.

I was witness to Fran when it went up through the center of NC though. I could feel the 200 year old oaks hitting the ground around my house. No kidding, you could FEEL them because it made the house shake. Transformers exploding, rain, wind and snapping of limbs. I was scared to freakin' death a tree was going to come through my bedroom ceiling! Petrified me while my ex-husband slept!

I think you'll be disappointed, Nicole is not likely to get much more than 40 or 50 mph winds, poorly organized and tons of shear.

It will endanger people on the coast with flooding from the expected rainfall amounts though.

Worst I've experienced was Tropical Storm Jeanne a few years back, 55 mph steady winds with some higher gusts. It was quite impressive that such relatively low winds could cause so much damage. It's a cumulative effect of a constant wind for hours. It definitely gave food for thought about staying for anything CAT 3 or less, which has always been my motto.

I saw firsthand the aftermath of Andrew in Miami, Homestead and the upper Keys a few days afterward...mind blowing.

I like watching, experiencing them...as long as they aren't in my area, Tampabay would be seriously screwed with a major landfalling hurricane. I enjoy any type of extreme weather, it's interesting to witness and can be exhilarating.

Enjoy, and bring a lifejacket! 🙂

Oh and very disappointed, can hardly hear it raining.
