that's what we have in the U.S..the illusion of choice. on some of these topics..in some of these threads..i know exactly where the information is coming from because that's the narrative that's crafted and ppl don't realize it.

besides blatant omissions on important issues and editorial discretion, ppl wonder why we don't get the full story? it's because reporters that are hired by these corps. will get filtered out of the system before they even get started if they aren't 'in line' with what is considered appropriately 'newsworthy.'

True-- good point.

However, that doesn't mean that any news source that's labeled "alternative" or "independent" is going to tell you the truth.

Apparently, it shouldn't ring true for anyone. Because really, it's only the "priviledge" of press.

Yeah, I was thinking about that.

Well certain alternative media in the United States is ok. Is there an alternative media in Romania? I'm wondering about your friend Auras death, did any other media outlets bring up the questions you were bringing up or not? I know you were heavily critical of the reporting and rightfully so. Also do you think the former Prime Minister going back to jail was a wag the dog tactic? A misdirection of sorts to take attention away from the errors in the rescue effort and many of the lies promoted by the media? Also has your country had these opportunities to express discontent for awhile or just recently? And yeah it's more public knowledge about the American media being owned by corporate interest, because America still has some semblance of freedom of speech. However slowly but surely these freedoms are being taken away incrementally. It's just not known as much in some other countries about their media serving special interests.

I was watching miss representation last night, it's an amazing documentary about how the media psychologically messes up young girls and women in general.

They were talking about the media and as pointed out due to deregulation there is a definite monopoly of these conglomerates and they all fund the democrats/republicans.

It's absurd how much power they have since they do truly mold society.

In regards to the black states, believe me you don't want to be in those societies, even as hypocritical as it is in America, those places are definitely worse, cause it's imperative for a healthy functional society to have civil liberties.

Just not have the average American citizen armed right? It's ok for those in power and the very wealthy to have private security, but not the lowly American citizen to have any means to protect themself from criminals? You've always pushed for disarming American citizens, especially on the Caps do you have guns thread. Meanwhile individuals like Michael Moore and others are anti 2nd Amendment, yet are surrounded by security with guns. The average citizen can't afford private security. When seconds count, the police are minutes away. Highest crime areas and gun violence is in heavily gun controlled areas.
