Degrees

Who has got one? How high? Do you work in that field?

It's not about what you "know", its about what you can DO and how well you do it.

I know. I am just curious. I have family that have masters and aren't using them. People with Phds working at Costco. Wondering how frequent this is.

Depends on the degree.
A PhD in Gender Studies does not equal a PhD in Low Energy Physics.
A Master's Degree in Education is not the same as even an MBA.

I love school too, at least as an adult. I want to go back to school. Debating it now.

Not sure what the PhD is in. My aunt and cousin have psychology degrees and don't use them.

I will have my BA in anthropology in May and I start my MA in Applied Anthropology in July. I do work in the field by working in a lab, I also work at a coroners office which is also anthropology. I Just quit a museum which was also anthropology lol

I will complete my bachelor's degree next winter. I'm currently working in the field but as a part time, and I might go for a graduate school after 1 or 2 years.

I have a Bachelor and i work in that area.

I have a bachelor's degree in accounting and am working in an accounting office. However, I wasn't for the last year. I had worked in accounting almost exclusively since I received my degree in 06. Last year I found myself unemployed and couldn't find accounting work.

Like many guys, I have always wanted to own a bar. At least I thought it sounded nice, I had never served anyone anything in my life. I've worked fast food and have been a short order cook, but never a server. So I decided to work at a sports bar. I was there for a few months and got some more restaurant experience. I know I could run it better than the owner/operator they have now.

When I left the bar I had some community service to get done. I've volunteered with habitat for humanity before so I went to them for that. I was looking for work and they offered me a job. I enjoyed working there but couldn't afford to take care of the kids and myself working there. It took a few months but I am back in my line of work.

Costco isn't a bad company to work for by the way. My mom has been there over 20 years. She makes a good salary and has good benefits. Their starting wage is way higher than average around here too.

I am rambling but think this is what the OP was looking for. If I could make the same money working elsewhere I would. Since I can't I keep doing this and having a better life style for us.

Oh and I'd love to be a student forever too. I actually liked school. I've been considering going back for another bachelor's degree. Maybe in computer programming or game design. Whether I switch carter or not it is interesting and I'd like to take my art digital.

Really? Why not. Isn't psychology a very good field to get into, if i was to back for a phd, that would be what i would do.

I have heard both for the degree. I think knowledge in psychology is always good to have because you can use it in practically every job field to some degree.

I was in no way implying Costco was a bad company. Just amazed that someone with a PhD isn't working in their field of study. So tells you they either didn't like the career or there weren't many opportunities.
