When you freeze to death the body produces extreme heat right before you lose your consciousness due to that the constricted blood vessles at the body's surface dilate, causing a sensation that essentially feels like burning to death.

Burning to death also produces a similar opposite reaction in the body where you feel like you're freezing.

If you get under an unbearably hot shower for a couple of seconds and you'll feel how your body reacts with shivers, almost as if you're freezing.

I don't think anyone would willfully get under an unrearably hot shower lol. 😛 But I think (unless you live in the (sub)tropics perhaps) just about everyone knows the feeling of when it's cold outside and your hands feel like freezing and when you go back inside and they feel like burning. 😉

Yes but the burning sensation we're talking about here is not due to external factors, such as shift of enviroment or entering a warm room.

And yes I have willfully showered unbearably hot, 10-20 sec at a time, it caused a weird freezing sensation like I said.

It's caused by the blood vessels opening again when you're warming up, no? So it should be the same sensation as with hypothermia (albeit less severe).

"Albeit less severe" no shit Sherlock, but you don't actually feel like you're burning to death every time you get in from the cold, so it's not precisely the same sensation just the same process. Congrats on passing 8th grade biology but what's your point again?

Wink to you too.

Damnata is a bit concerned lol. It's ok. Hopefully most of us won't be freezing/ burning ourselves alive anytime soon.

damanta lost a close friend under tragic circumstances that related to the cold. hypothermia.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that.. I wish I wouldn't have brought it up then :/ I apologize.

Don't worry, @ Leo, @ Cap

I think each topic hits on someone's nerve in some way around here. No need to bring the mood down.

*sits back with popcorn and watches the debate between enfant and tokerx, while winking incessantly*

On topic: Burn. Blaming it on my passion and my dad's passion for fireworks and fire in general. Don't have the Scorpio Moon scars to prove it though 😄.
